Re: Carbon Fiber Club Launched!

Ken,

I can't hold off any longer. I really don't know if I will get very much use out of it all, as I'm not the car fanatic that I might want to be, but I appreciate so much what I get from my membership I really have to start pitching in to support the site. So I'll sign up.

Thanks for all your hard work.

I don't think you have to be a car fanatic to get use out of it, they have discounts on buying cars, leasing cars, getting insurance, even extended warranties and other service related items so even just in general it may be something you can make use of.

Add to that some of the discounted events and special events and you could just attend something and make it worthwhile.

Of course if you are a car nut then yeah there's even more stuff.

Ken, do you know if their insurance covers DEs? It would be a popular product.

I don't know because I haven't looked into it, would't hurt to call and ask or email either the CFC folks or their partner carrier (I don't recall who that is off the top of my head)

Re: Carbon Fiber Club Launched!

Is there any specific description of benefits before I join? I'm interested in an extended warranty but don't want to pony up the money before I know what I'm actually being offered.

Re: Carbon Fiber Club Launched!

Ken,

I have followed the link and signed up, but I'm not convinced I got the combination CFC/Insider membership. Is there any way to confirm this? I do know I paid $49.95.

Sorry to be a hassle on this. If something went wrong, I'm sure it was operator error!

I know their website shares some details such as who providers are, but doesn't share all of the details of each provider to non-members. I have pointed this out to CFC and they are going to be providing more details publicly on their website in the near future but have asked me to tell people simply to call them or email them and they will share the details over the phone or in email because in some instances they cannot just publish it to the web. For example like with Escort Radar here I can tell you that you can get a discount via our assigned partners for the discount program but I cannot tell you how much here in the forum, you have to call or email to get that figure.

Did you get the email that went out last night about CFC? If so it had a description of what it is, I call it a Costco Club for Car Guys/Gals is a good analogy. I don't know if you have Costco in your country but basically it is a discount club, by joining the club you get a card that entitles you to discounts on parts, services, new car buying, warranties, events, etc. all automotive related. More details are available on their website or you can always call or email them for additional information not found on their site.

I won't know for certain until their batch job is sent over to our side, basically if you signed up via the link here that took you to their site then once they process you on their site their system keeps track of the fact that you came from here and will send a batch over for us to process on our side to grant the Insider access to those who signed up on their site. The reverse is true when someone signs up here on Planet-9, I have to push the information to CFC and then CFC adds you to their club, sends you out a card, etc. on their end.

Hope that helps! I'm just waiting for that cool carbon fiber card to show up in the mail, I want to turn that baby into a credit card so I can whip it out at dinners.

I agree, what is it? If it's like a Costco for car enthusiasts Costco lets non members in to see what they sell but you can't buy. It would be advantageous for Carbon Fiber Club to have something similar so we can see what is available to us before we shell out $50.

As I said previously CFC is aware that people want to see inside more in some instances and they are working on a solution for that. I'd give them a little time to do so, but if you want to call or email them directly for more inside information I'm sure they'd be happy to share.

Re: Carbon Fiber Club Launched!

Based on announcement of CFC launch, visited the website but still had some questions. Below are responses I received from CFC which includes a Satisfaction Guarantee :

Subj: Re: Non-CFC purchases?

We will have a replacement for Bavarian Autosport shortly, and we are working on getting a tour of the CFC Garage on the prospective member site so that you can have a better feel for what is available. That being said, we cannot fully open the garage, as certain discounts cannot be viewed by the general public, as per the wishes of the Merchants. We are only able to secure great deals because we are a closed member-only club.

In the next couple of months, we will also be adding special deals directly from Suppliers on products that cannot be discounted anywhere else. We are growing very quickly and constantly adding more partners. This is a great time to join because we want to hear directly from our members what merchants and service providers they are interested in having us recruit.

Within your one year membership, if you find that you have not taken advantage of any of the offers in the CFC Garage, we are happy to fully refund you the membership fee. You just send us back your Carbon Fiber card, and you will get your money back.

Hope that helps!

The Carbon Fiber Club

Going to your site, could not explore offerings of CF Garage since it is available to members only. Of your partners, the only one of interest currently would be Bavarian Autosport but I have been informed by them that they have decided NOT to (re)partner. I guess your membership would pay for itself with purchases or services from your big ticket partners but since I am not running a track car or making significant mods to my Porsche, other than detailing supplies and misc accessories, there does not appear to be much of a draw currently for me to join CFC.

Frank
Hi Frank,

Thank you for your interest in the Carbon Fiber Club. We are working very hard to incorporate a tour of our benefits section into the prospective member site, but it is currently not up.

The Carbon Fiber Club is an exclusive club dedicated to providing member-only pricing on all things that car enthusiasts engage in. If you are interested in who some of our benefits providers are, they include:

AutoAnything
Wheels Boutique
CEC
Hoefel America
Miller MotorCars
Skip Barber Racing School
Bondurant
World Class Driving
Gotham Dream Cars
Grand Prix New York
iRacing
Monticello Motor Club
and many more, we are adding more partners everyday.

They are providing anywhere from 10-25% off most of their products and services (of course there are few restrictions that merchants don't have control over).

As you will be one of the early members, you will be a critical part of getting additional partners on board. Tell us who you want, and we will do our best to get them on board!

You must be a member to fully take advantage of the benefits of the club, but at the special introductory rate, you won't be disappointed.

To whom it may concern,

Just heard about the CFC Online Store through Planet 9. Trying to justify membership fee and have a couple of questions:

1) Will the store be viewable by non members?

2) If yes, will items also be available for purchase by non members?

Thanks in advance.

Frank

Re: Carbon Fiber Club Launched!

Ken:

I joined the CFC using option 1 above (link to their website), however, I don't see that I have been upgraded to the Insiders Group here - how is that supposed to happen?

Thanks . . .

They just sent me a batch of members to prcess, so I will get to that as quickly as I can.

BTW they are supposed to update the CFC website tomorrow to reflect a new guarantee that they have along with some additional access and information so those still on the fence be sure and check it out!

Re: Carbon Fiber Club Launched!

I processed the batch and everyone who signed up over at the Carbon Fiber Club website should now also be in the Insiders group here with appropriate access. If you aren't, please let me know.

Thanks!

Re: Carbon Fiber Club Launched!

A quick update, if you click the newly updated link in the Notices box above, it will now take you to an intro page on the CFC website where you can read more details about the site AND get some more in-depth information on discounts and offerings, etc. I hope this helps those who were looking for more information.

After a quick look around I am very interested now. It looks like one medium to large purchase from an affiliate could cover the membership price.

Yeah I concur, even a single purchase is likely to cover the cost of membership. Hopefully others will look around now too at what they are offering.

Re: Carbon Fiber Club Launched!

Yes, but the one thing I'd like to see are some of the sponsors here joining in. I'd think that would make the CFC even more useful.

Some of them are a bit generic. When I search AutoAnything for my specific model one of the categories that show up is runner boards and nerf bars. Just a bit odd though I'm sure it would make for a unique look.
