http://www.planet-9.com/gallery/files/3/ledlightbarnews.jpg Eliminate your 2006-2008 Cayman's circa 1995 fog-lights while updating it beyond the Gen 2! Manufactured in the U.S.A. of polypropylene T20 (just like Porsche original equipment), these 2006-2008 Cayman LED Spars with Radiator Guards absorb impacts, and with 100% color impregnation, chipping is eliminated. The wide-angle ultra-high-output LEDs on these spars create greater visibility and yield over 10 years of service. The extra strong polypropylene mesh protects your A/C condensers and radiators while adding a touch of the Porsche GT3 aesthetic.

Providing a truly a plug-n-play installation, anyone capable of replacing a fog-light bulb can install these LED Spars. The water resistant installation is easily reversed to return to the stock configuration. The 2006-2008 Cayman LED Spars with Radiator Guards will ship to you as a pair (driver and passenger side) complete with easy to follow step-by-step instructions and all of the necessary supplies to produce a professional installation. Cayman enthusiast Ken Kushman was one of the first to receive the "First Article"*. His installation, complete with 40 pictures is documented here: LED Spars with Radiator Guards - Articles

This product has a limited one-year warranty against any electronic defect within the LED array (circuit board or component LEDs), the wiring pigtail or its BAX9S connector (which interfaces with the OEM wiring harness). This warranty has no provision for damage due to misuse, modification, impact, accident, collision or failure to follow the waterproofing step as described in step #15 from the supplied installation instructions.

In the unlikely event that one or more LEDs malfunction (out of warranty) or are damaged, replacement LED array assembly complete with circuit board, 15 component LEDs, pigtail, BAX9S connector and installation supplies are available for $49 (per each; plus S&H). We will be happy to provide the labor and potting material to install your replacement LED array assembly. You would assume shipping costs to return a damaged or out of warranty unit to us along with your payment for the replacement LED array.

I have been waiting for someone to try a different color for the LED Spars, I do like how it breaks up the big black area when the middle of the spars have a color to them. Maybe I'll get mine painted red to match my CS.

Would a professional paint job have problems sticking to these spars?

Dear Joe,

Just got my LED spars in the mail and decided to show them off at the local Porsche dealership. They were impressed!
Since I had some work to be done on the car, they installed them for me just to see how they worked. They were surprised with the ease of the install via the directions included.

As a meticulous Cayman owner I could not be happier with the new look of my CS.
If anyone is thinking twice about these, don't... just get them.

They are easily the best face-lift for the money.

Thanks again!

DrPhi, white was a choice but wanting to keep it a DIY project as much as possible I was limited to a few flexible colors. I was going to go with the carbon vinyl on the flat portion like yours but never got to that stage.

Oilman, the paint did stick really well in some areas where It was probably scuffed up a it more before the adhesion promoter went on. The poly was just too fresh from the mold. I thought the paint was pretty secure and would have stayed on but pulling on it with the tape and the film didn't help and wouldn't have happened under everyday use. Do a photoshop to see what the red would like before you do anything. You could even try some red tape, just stand back from the car and squint.

Got mine on and i love them! It was easy to install took about 20-30 minutes (trying to figure out how to remove the old ones took the most time)

Here what they look like without turning the lights on but with the door open

With lights on

Thanks for the modernization of the car. I feel the LED's make the car more up to date. Not that it was not a marvel. BTW I kept my Porsche Mesh on. The size of the "expanded metal" looking holes on the grills will allow more trash in than I want.

Bravo for the great work you did in bringing this to market.

Thank you for a great Mod.

By the way,

i opted also for the DRL installation.

As we have strict regulations on DRL in Germany I need to have the option to switch back to standard Porsche foglight configuration every two years when we have to make the technical vehicle inspection.

I cut of Joes bulb-plug and crimped Tyco AMP Superseal plugs to the DRL.
The AMP Superseal are oem high quality plugs that i also used for the waterproof electric installation on my boat.
I used 3M gel filled scotchlok to take 12V + and - from the washer nozzle heater wires and and used again at this side a AMP Superseal plug. The gel filled 3M scotchlok keeps away moisture from the Porsche wires and eliminates electrical problems. If I take away the LED spar wiring only a oem looking plug will be left close to the washer nozzels.

Thanks to Joe and the other forum members who gave good and helpful advices for the installation.

Regards,

Kai

Hi Phil,

Thanks a lot for the feedback. The wheels are OZ ultraleggera HLT 8.5/10 x 19.

You can get the superseals for instance here:

AMP superseal 2 pole connector set - Touratech-USA

There are rubbers available (the small green things) for this superseal in different colours. The colour
depends on the diamater of the wire you use, so make sure you order the right colour for the diameter of your wire.

You can find all related information on the manufacturers HP. I was looking for some afordable but high quality connection plugs and ended up with AMP.

I didnt use their crimping pliers as you can do it easily with small regular pliers.

Kai

I received my order #413 on Friday and installed them yesterday. They look great, and the quality of the item (and the instructions) was greater than expected. Thanks Joe! I'll post photos later.

Installation was pretty easy, especially after I completed the first one.

Although I was one of the first to order my LED spars, I just received them today. Why the delay? I had Joe ship them to Max at PorscheMesh do work on them. I have the PorscheMesh on my front center opening, rear opening, and side vents. I love the LED concept but wanted to have an end product that matched the rest of the mesh on the car. Max spent a fair bit of time sorting out how to do this best, the end result is in my opinion, awesome.

It'll probably be a few weeks before they're installed, there's additional work to be done cutting the mesh to re-install my Escort 9500ci shifters. I'll post pics once it's finally done. Max.. dude, you rock!!!!!!!

#721 ·
Very nice, I liked the LED spars but didn't want that larger mesh, which 1) wouldn't have matched my side & rear vents, 2) doesn't really block that much. Now it looks like I might have an answer to the problem, where I can have the best of both worlds...... interesting.

Hmmmm.... I have an extra set of the OEM spars that I was planning on installing some LED bars in so they looked more gen2 like. Now I don't know what to do!!
