First I want to thank you for your order!

Several months ago I mentioned that a customer LED self-installation would be an option. Unfortunately due to the difficult nature of installation this option won't be available.

However I don't want you to be disappointed and do have a solution for you. You could give me you name and ship to information that you submitted to DealBird and when your order comes up in the queue, I could ship you the spars without the electronics. You could have them painted at your favorite shop then returned to me (with your "return to" address included). We would apply the electronics (48 hours in-house) then return them to you.

Please do give this some serious consideration before going forward. I painted one of my early prototypes silver to match my silver Cayman and found the look awkward. In my opinion, the spars appeared as ad-ons or purposeless afterthoughts and didn't integrate very well with the front corners.

Now on the OEM design, the spar does just the opposite. Its purpose is to anchor what would otherwise be a lost or floating fog-light. With the clean lines of the LED Spars, smooth integration was my design goal.

If you'd like, I could provide several pictures to you of a red Cayman with my Cayman LED Spars with Radiator Guards. Then if you or someone you know are good with photoshop, you could airbrush the spars red and see how you feel about it. Please just let me know.

Hello Hack,

You can easily trim off the mesh but you would have to leave a small radiused tongue to fill the space at the top of your existing mesh where your existing mesh accommodates the existing fog-light. This wouldn't be a good look IMO!

For a fully integrated look, I'd recommend selling your old mesh on Planet-9 Classifieds then use the proceeds to buy down your cost of the Cayman LED Spars with Radiator Guards.

I do recall your your previous inquiry and I remember it as though I did reply. In any case please forgive me!

If I manufactured a version without the mesh I believe most customers would be unhappy with appearance of the remaining and visible vacated light-well were the fog-light resided. See installation pictures #6, 7, 11, and 12 here: LED Spars with Radiator Guards - Articles

If your interest is to preserve the utility of your existing mesh solution, you could easily trim off my mesh to use with yours. You would have to leave a small radiuses tongue of my mesh to fill the space at the top of your existing mesh where your existing mesh accommodates the existing fog-light. This wouldn't be a good look IMO! You are correct to say that the LED Spars would be securely attached without the mesh present.

For a fully integrated look, my recommendation is to sell old mesh on Planet-9 Classifieds then use the proceeds to buy down the cost of the Cayman LED Spars with Radiator Guards.

Joe, thanks for this great product and for all the feedback. If you could give me your thoughts on this I would appreciate it....I was considering painting the spears and the mesh the "Aluma Look" flat silver to match my lower front bumper chin spears, mirror spears, and side intake vents on my Midnight Blue CS. How do you think that would look? When you painted yours silver to match the car, did you just paint the spear? or the spear and the mesh?

Certainly beauty is in the eye of the beholder but you asked for my opinion so here it goes. For me, the aluminum trim is a very nice accent. It introduces the item it's accentuating by subtly identifying its edge or boundary; much like piping on a piece of fine upholstery. But to plop a splash of bright silver amidst the darkened corner of a Midnight Blue Cayman would be too much contrast for me. There is no right and wrong here so maybe you'd like to try it!

When I test painted my early prototype spars Arctic Silver to match my car, the mesh was not yet a part of my design. Again, I didn't like the look and the mesh wouldn't have changed my opinion here. Please read my post #24 (above) for an explanation.

I have the similar questions. Can this be installed with my current mesh and what is the cost if I can do it this way?

By reading more posts, I think the answer is no, unless I want to Hack (pun intended) my existing setup.
