http://www.planet-9.com/gallery/files/3/ledlightbarnews.jpg Eliminate your 2006-2008 Cayman's circa 1995 fog-lights while updating it beyond the Gen 2! Manufactured in the U.S.A. of polypropylene T20 (just like Porsche original equipment), these 2006-2008 Cayman LED Spars with Radiator Guards absorb impacts, and with 100% color impregnation, chipping is eliminated. The wide-angle ultra-high-output LEDs on these spars create greater visibility and yield over 10 years of service. The extra strong polypropylene mesh protects your A/C condensers and radiators while adding a touch of the Porsche GT3 aesthetic.

Providing a truly a plug-n-play installation, anyone capable of replacing a fog-light bulb can install these LED Spars. The water resistant installation is easily reversed to return to the stock configuration. The 2006-2008 Cayman LED Spars with Radiator Guards will ship to you as a pair (driver and passenger side) complete with easy to follow step-by-step instructions and all of the necessary supplies to produce a professional installation. Cayman enthusiast Ken Kushman was one of the first to receive the "First Article"*. His installation, complete with 40 pictures is documented here: LED Spars with Radiator Guards - Articles

This product has a limited one-year warranty against any electronic defect within the LED array (circuit board or component LEDs), the wiring pigtail or its BAX9S connector (which interfaces with the OEM wiring harness). This warranty has no provision for damage due to misuse, modification, impact, accident, collision or failure to follow the waterproofing step as described in step #15 from the supplied installation instructions.

In the unlikely event that one or more LEDs malfunction (out of warranty) or are damaged, replacement LED array assembly complete with circuit board, 15 component LEDs, pigtail, BAX9S connector and installation supplies are available for $49 (per each; plus S&H). We will be happy to provide the labor and potting material to install your replacement LED array assembly. You would assume shipping costs to return a damaged or out of warranty unit to us along with your payment for the replacement LED array.

To take advantage of the group-buy, click here : LED Lightbar Group Buy on Dealbird - Order Here!. Orders will be shipped in the order they are received; first orders in are the first orders shipped!

* "First Article" are parts manufactured prior to the start of production for the purpose of ensuring that the mold is capable of producing a product that will meet specified requirements.

I just looked through the install article. If I still had my 08 I'd get these in a heartbeat. Really, really clever. I got black spars to get rid of that "VW New Beetle" look. This would have been MUCH better. Good luck with this product.

What? No Amex option to pay for ordering the spars? I'm not asking for permission from the wife, so I can't use the Visa card. :) This one's going to be a x-mas gift for me from me, so we can't tell the wife. Amex is my only option, or my e-trade personal bank account check. Wait, what about US Postal Office Money Order? Please advise!

Hello ce9aevo,

Thank you for your order! Yes, if everything continues as planned, February 3, 2012 is a good estimate. Actually, my best guess is your order position is something less than 20. The order number reflected by DealBird is a DealBird system wide order number which takes in consideration all orders for all items from all vendors.

Regards,

Joe

Hello Tom,

First I want to thank you for your order!

Several months ago I mentioned that a customer LED self-installation would be an option. Unfortunately due to the difficult nature of installation this option won't be available.

However I don't want you to be disappointed and do have a solution for you. You could give me you name and ship to information that you submitted to DealBird and when your order comes up in the queue, I could ship you the spars without the electronics. You could have them painted at your favorite shop then returned to me (with your "return to" address included). We would apply the electronics (48 hours in-house) then return them to you.

Please do give this some serious consideration before going forward. I painted one of my early prototypes silver to match my silver Cayman and found the look awkward. In my opinion, the spars appeared as ad-ons or purposeless afterthoughts and didn't integrate very well with the front corners.

Now on the OEM design, the spar does just the opposite. Its purpose is to anchor what would otherwise be a lost or floating fog-light. With the clean lines of the LED Spars, smooth integration was my design goal.

If you'd like, I could provide several pictures to you of a red Cayman with my Cayman LED Spars with Radiator Guards. Then if you or someone you know are good with photoshop, you could airbrush the spars red and see how you feel about it. Please just let me know.

Thanks again!

Joe

I already have mesh installed, can I just order the spears? What would be the group buy price without the mesh? Thanks!

Very nice looking mod, I'm sure this will be a huge hit with the 2006-2008 owners!

From the photos, it looks like the grill and light spar is extruded from one piece of plastic material. It may be that the only way to get it "without grills" is to use a Dremel!
I posed the same question on the Article when it came out . . . hopefully our new vendor will chime in with his response here. I suspect that Joe is not planning to produce/sell a version without the mesh, so then the question is whether the attachment of the upper LED spar portion is as secure as the OEM part (it looks like it should have the same mounting tabs). Then, as Pete said, you will probably have to cut-off the mesh grill yourself if you don't want to replace your existing grills.

Hello subparrnd,

Thank you for your order! Actually, my best guess is your order position is something less than 20; your order should be one of he first to ship.

The order number reflected by DealBird is a DealBird system wide order number which takes in consideration all orders for all items from all vendors.

Hello dnelsonct,

Thank you for your order! Your shipping position is easily within the top 25 orders. The order number assigned by DealBird reflects all DealBird orders from all vendors.

I notified DealBird regarding the ship to name and they will try to have it added to the program tonight. No worry for those orders already placed because they will get the name form the credit card.

To utilize DealBird, their policy is all sales are billed at the time they create a voucher. It is this voucher that reserves your position in the shipping queue.

The only exception is for international customers who will be billed the base amount of $349 immediately. The international shipping will be billed separately at the time of shipment.

Thanks again,

Joe

Thanks for that Joe. There would need to be modification of the mesh as I have Escort/Passport jammers installed, already trimmed up the Porsche Mesh kit John sold me. I'll mull it over.. Thanks again, Jeff:thanks:

For the folks considering painting the spars to match your cars....I was also in the same boat until I installed the spars and had a chance to see them on the car. Now, I'm in love with the blacked-out look.

Congratulations, Joe on getting the group buy kicked off. I know alot of people have been waiting for this day!

maybe John Copeland can manufacture/sell a piece of mesh that would cover the fog light opening?
