Welcome to another issue of the The Planet-9 News our monthly newsletter! | | Tale of the Tape: Does the 981 Measure Up to the 987? | |
04-25-2013
- by K-Man S | Does the 981 measure up to the 987? That's what we set out to discover by comparing a 2006 Cayman S to a pair of 2014 Caymans (S and non-S). Armed with a camera and trusty tape measure it is time to set the record straight when comparing the 981 to the 987. Most publications have focused on performance numbers, 0-60 times, miles per gallon or even hydraulic vs. electric steering, but none have compared the two cars in terms of size and details. Porsche has told us that the new Cayman is longer, lower and wider while providing more [...]

| | 981 Factory Closed due to Fire! | |
04-01-2013
- by K-Man S | The Osnabrück factory has been shut down due to a fire on the factory floor. Line worker Helmut Kohl was reported to have said that during testing of the new 401HP Cayman GT4 engine on the dyno than an extra IMS bearing has been left inside the engine block accidentally, lodged in the oil pump pickup blocking nearly all flow of oil to the engine resulting in a meltdown and subsequent fire. Halon fire supression systems activated which while supressing the fire also caused extensive damage to equipment, cars and workers trapped in the area. No immediate casualties were reported [...]

K-Man S Korner - It is April already? No Foolin!
|
I'd like to thank our sponsors that made our ncaa basketball bracket tourney last month such a huge success with awesome prizes, most of which are already in the hands of the winners! Hopefully, we can continue to do this every year, but it takes a lot of support from our sponsors so please let them know how much you appreciate their support.
We had an issue this past month with a Trojan attack against the website, and while no harm was done, it did take some time and effort for our host to track it down and eradicate it. This also caused some functions on the site to be limited until the issue could be resolved. My apologies for this happening but we are simply a victim of our own success.
April is also the first month that the new 981 Cayman can be delivered into customer hands. We are starting to see some good first hand reviews trickle into the site, so be on the lookout for these and more to come in the forums.
In the mean time don't miss our feature article on does the 981 measure up to the 987! We hope you have as much fun reading it as we did creating it!
I want to draw your attention to a couple of new tutorials I created last month, in case you missed them, please check these out! Video Tutorial using New Posts Feature How to Upload Photos
Please take a few minutes to watch these and let me know if there are other tutorials you'd like to see me produce.

As a reminder Prior Newsletters are all found here: http://www.planet-9.com/newsletter.php
Use the ISSUES drop down menu at the right to access past issues of this newsletter. We are now in spring, and that means track time is coming up, so a lot of people are going to be looking at acquiring track tires and/or tire/wheel packages. Please consider ordering from Tire Rack and if you do, please make sure you click on the banner ad on our site first that then takes you to their site and then complete your order. If you do that, our site gets a commission for the sale, if you don't, such as just going there directly or calling on the phone then we do NOT get a commission. Please help the site by clicking on the TireRack banner before ordering! Thanks in advance.
Until next time, Stay Tuned!
Sincerely,
K-Man S
