    Best car wash soap

What's the best car wash soap? I've tried a lot of the cheap brands and the more expensive brands and found that the cheap turtle wax and meguiars works best. what does everyone else use?

I use Zymol clear. Harsher soaps may clean well, but they may eat the wax off too.

I recommend Meguiar's NXT generation everything. Car wash is great. In my opinion it compliments the current NXT wax job by prolonging its "Just waxed look". I am sold!

Anything that won't strip off wax should work fine (it should say on the bottle). You really don't need to splurge on car wash shampoo - save your money for the polishes and sealants. I currently use Turtle Wax Ice (bought a 2 gallon jug of it at Costco for $7) and I like it.

The Meguire's product is excellent. Not very harsh and seems to resist hard water spots.

Whatever I find on sale at Target works. I like orange based stuff.

If I want to strip off the wax, thanks to Interpol's earlier advice, I use dish soap like Dove. You should have seen the face on my wife when she saw me put that into the bucket. She was like "didn't you just blow whole bunch of money on your car care stuff, why are you using the dish soap?"

I hope you mean DAWN dishwashing liquid and not DOVE. Dove does not strip off car wax and contains moisturizers that will leave streaks and marks on your car's finish.

Most dish soaps will not work on cars. Use Dawn only.

meg gold will strip your wax. a lot of people like the slippery feel when they wash, but you will have no wax left

Utter, complete BS. Prove this with a reference, please.

Per the Meguiar's website itself, NONE of its washes (Meguiar's Gold, NXT, Deep Crystal, or Soft Wash Gel) will harm or strip car wax, and there are NO claims of it harming anyone's wax, polish, or sealant over on the Autopia.org detailing forums. In addition, I still have about 1/4 left of a gallon jug of Meguiar's Gold in my garage and I have NEVER had a problem with wax or Zaino Z-2 or Z-5 stripping after using it for 2+ years.
