$129.95 Silvergaurd Car Cover from SunCoast... good quality for outdoor protection?

I keep my Cayman outdoors because I don't have a garage and want to protect it from general debris, pollen, rain, etc.

I drive my car only every few days so it sucks because I'll wash it and I only get to enjoy a clean car for one day! If I had a great quality car cover that protected my nice clean car, then I wouldn't really have to wash it so much.

I found this Silvergaurd Car Cover at Suncoast for $129.95 and it's a lot cheaper than the Porsche cover (which I've read is trash). Just wanted to know if anyone has experience with this car cover and if it's a good one to buy?

No experience with it directly but the price sounds right and I've heard nothing but good things about their products. Definitely worth the investment if you are forced to park outdoors. Someone who has purchased will chime in, I am sure...

I have an 08 Cayman, no garage, and use a Weathertech car cover. It's more expensive than the Silverguard, but I'm completely satisfied with it's performance. I washed it twice during the summer as the water repelancy seemd to diminish as it got dirty. I ended up treating it with Nikwax, a camp tent treatment, and now the water just rolls off. Not as good as a garage but satisfactory.

Covers work but they rub in the wind and slowly take the paint off your car. i think the best you can do is wax or zaino it when ever you can & crack the windows in the summer ( treat the leather )

KJames: I haven't heard about the "rubbing in the wind" issue.

Do they really take the paint off? This one seems to have a soft non-abbrasive interior liner that apparently fixes that issue... anyone know about that with this specific liner?

When car covers get wet, they get heavy and do even more damage....I had a 911 that the clear coat was rubed right off the top car.....I have learned my lesson!

Question Re: $129.95 Silvergaurd Car Cover from SunCoast... good quality for outdoor protectio

So no one has experience with this specific cover?

I really think a cover would help but am very scared of ANY cover based on what kjames29 said!

Re: $129.95 Silvergaurd Car Cover from SunCoast... good quality for outdoor protectio

Trap,
I realize a garage is the best way to go but I don't have one and I know there are many Cayman Club members here in the northeast who use covers year round. When I took my cover off last month, after it was on the car since late last year, the car looked perfect. I washed and Zaino'd the car before I put the cover on and hooked up a battery tender. The car was covered with snow and ice for extended periods and it survived fine. I use a Weathershield cover (not Weathertech, edit) and find it a viable choice to no protection at all. I hope some other Noreaster cover users chime in to help you make an informed decision. One other thing, the cover fits quite snug but to help lessen any rubbing caused by wind I hang weights from the two grommets supplied for an anti theft cable. This stablizes the cover even further.

would the silverguard cover be ok for indoor use? I'm concerned about the paint.
