Exterior Finish

I have had many Porsches but I am new to the Cayman world. Can anyone tell me what they consider the best wax and its application for these fine autos?

Re: Exterior Finish

"The Best" is a matter of personal preference and expectations.

Preparation is the key to any top level finish on your car, and then how you maintain it. I am about as fanatical as anyone here, and think nothing of a regular wash being a 4 hour therapy session, and my 2-3 time a year full detailing being 20 or 24 hours or more .

That being said, the better products can be easier to use and not as time consuming; Griots' polishes and best of show wax are notoriously difficult to remove, while I can say from personal experience that Swissvax and Gloss It polishes / waxes are very easy to remove. Some companies have a cleanser or paint prep step as well to apply before your initial waxing with thier product (Swissvax being one), which can take as much or more time to use, but is critical to your results.

First rule - just don't "loose" your finish. Getting it back can be painstaking work.

The color of your car plays a role in the products you use. Some look better on dark finishes, and others on light. In fact, some companies have products that are color specific. And, black is not a color, it is a hobby!!!!

Use top quality micro fiber towels and applicators - cheap ones will undo all your work.

When you dry your car, apply detailing spray to the wet panels before you dry them; I suggest using the same brand of detailing spray as your wax. It lubricates your towel and greatly minimizes micro scratching of the clear coat, and leaves behind a very thin layer of wax that will prolong your primary wax coat.

I have done business with Phil, Chris, and Rich, they are all very helpful , provide top quality products, and provide excellent service. I'll leave it to you and them to determine exactly what is the best product for you.

Regards, and have fun with it!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the purchase!

I think in2esses said it very well. Whats "best" is really a personal preference. You'll find products you love and some that you wont love as much.
With that said, the wax that I've sold the most to guys on this forum is the p21s 100% carnauba. Its very easy to use and looks outstanding. p21s 100% carnauba wax

Also, you may consider doing a paint cleaner before waxing. It will give a nice gloss and really prep the surface for that final application of wax.
P21s Paintwork Cleansing Lotion

These products also come bundled w/ their auto shampoo and wheel cleaner, in a nice carrying case too if that interests you.
P21s Deluxe Car Care Kit

Then just have some quality microfiber towels on hand for residue removal and you're good to go
Microfiber Towels
The deluxe mega towel, fluffer, elite and mega plush are all outstanding towels

onthcod. There are many excellent choices out there for car wax, polishes and synthetic sealants. I know my opinion would be bias because I own and sell gloss-it, but are products were developed to give professional results for the car enthusiast wanting to achieve a killer shine with depth, clarity, durability and the best color enhancement.

I guess you could say were like the porsche cayman of detail products. We offer a great bang for the buck. Were not the cheapest but not the most expensive. But in my personal opinion we offer products that are user friendly, work consistently and with a little work and effort make you stand back and say "WOW" I did that.

I would take some time to visit our community and checkout what other car enthusiast have to say and have achieved with gloss-it.

Here are a couple of products I would recommend starting with.

Concorso Gloss. Gives that show car finish that rivals some of the most expensive waxes on the market.

Gloss Finish. This has close to the look of the concorso but offers double the durability.

Hope this helps. Please PM if you have any questions.

Best of luck with your search!

Rich
