How to protect headlights?

I read that 3M films cannot be applied to protect headlights. Anybody knows what can?

Re: How to protect headlights?

Lamin-X works great. I have had it on my last 3 cars.

Re: How to protect headlights?

Just ordered from xpel. The kit includes headlight and foglight covers pre-cut. Much thicker than the clearbra I just had done.

+1 for X-pel headlamp shields - it isn't too difficult to DIY (just need a hairdryer or heat gun and a little patience).

My clear bra installer told me that the typical clear bra material is too thin to protect the headlamps, because the heat from the light may cause it to bubble.

3M (and others) make headlight film that works fine. Mine's been on for close to 3 years.

I have the 3M clear bra on my car and also on my headlights. The film thats on the headlights is a thicker film.

Re: How to protect headlights?

I just had the front end clear bra installed and headlight covers were included; they are from 3-M.

May I ask how much did it cost you? Where did you get it installed? How long it took them to install it?

Its was about $625.00. That included front bumper and headlights. I did not do the hood. It took about 4 hours. My Installer, installed it at my house and also cut the pattern in is van. All 3M products. Excellent work. Have had it for 2+ years.

Re: How to protect headlights?

My install was $650 which included the headlights, hood, front bumper and side mirrors. The company actually came and did it in my garage. I kept them supplied in iced tea and they kept the seams straight; did not want to chance beer goggles.
