Unusual cleaning problem

Lucky me. I must have hit some wet latex paint on the highway. Truly lucky-- the body was spared, as were all moving parts, but my wheel wells look like Jackson Pollock had a go at them.

The paint peels off relatively easily, with no noticeable residue, but there's a lot of it. Suggestions? Any help is much appreciated.

Re: Unusual cleaning problem

This happened to a previous car I owned. It is a royal pain to remove all of it. A pressure washer helps, I used simple green and that didn't get much off, I then tried Goof Off with better results put it still took lots of scrubbing with a brush. I had a few tiny drops on the paint and wheels and a clay bar removed those. Don't wait to long.

Re: Unusual cleaning problem

Dirtex - a spray cleaner made by Savogran - will remove latex paint. It will clean chrome but have no idea what it will do to the finish on your wheels.

I'm with Santa Fe. I would try a pressure washer.

Re: Unusual cleaning problem

Thanks to both of you--using combination of recommendations got 99% of the gunk off. Silver lining here: first time I ever used clay. Wow!
