Post Wheel Wax Wheel Cleaner

For those who have applied Wheel Wax, what do your recommend to clean the wheels that most effectively removes brake dust and grime while not removing the Wheel Wax protection?

This is what works for me and leaves the Wheel Wax in place, from Griots Garage.

Another alternativeto what zornet recommends is a highly diluted mix of Simple Green and water.

Thanks.

Santa Fe - what ratio do you recommend for the Simple Green / H20 blend?

If your wheels are clear coated, make sure not to use anything acidic. The effects with prolonged use will be just like washing rest of your car's clear coat with acid based detergent.

Correct F1. Even Porsche service recommends Simple Green but I cringe at some of the things people have used on their clear coated wheels. Looks nice today but its going to cost tomorrow.

Santa Fe - Simple Green is what you had used to remove the dreaded cosmoline from the wheels @ full strength. Wouldn’t that be a little hard on the Wheel Wax even @ 50/50?

Seems o.k. so far. It may be more like 40/60 but I'm not sure. I also don't saturate the wheel but mist it on and then hose it off followed by a wipe with a rag. The wax is still holding up so I think it is o.k. to use. I've used the Griots too and it is grand.

I just use a wet rag. The brake dust just wipes off.

i wheel waxed mine inside and out. When i wash my car i use the zaino car wash, and the last thing i clean is the wheels. all the brake dust comes off easily. After the wheels are dried i go back and use the gloss enhancer spray or whatever detailing spray i have laying around and wipe them clean.

RedRocket seems to have the right idea. Aren't most good car wash shampoos pH balanced to as close as 7 as possible and thus less 'agressive' than most cleaning solutions? I would summise that if the shampoo is gentle on the wax sitting on your paint, it's good enough for the wax on your wheels.
