Dynapack Dyno

just got the raw dyno data excel format. Dynoed on a Dynapack. Finally Dynoed with torque numbers. And a facility that knows what they are doing. For those of you who dont know Dynapacks are attached to the axle
Dynapack
Mods are:
Milltek Headers
Milltek Exhaust
DeSnork
K&N filter
APR 93oct program

Interesting - your rear wheel numbers are about what Porsche claims at the flywheel, so your mods have about balanced the drivetrain losses.

Does anyone know what the CS drivetrain loss is?

sad thing is I should have dynoed with no mods. At least we know Milltek adds ~15-25WHP APR added the rest

Numbers sound a bit high for those mods.
Can they do the measurement in Porsche cup mode? No fudging then.

Don't forget your desnork and K&N filter. I've had some reports of K&N filters alone adding 5-10hp when coupled with a de-snork. Yes your assessment that you should have dyno'd before any mods is correct. Also your chart is a little awkward in that your peak hp is way early but that could be the smoothing that was used or could just be the way they run their dyno. All in all, good numbers and likely an improvement over what you had stock, but again no way to know exactly what mod is doing what without the original baseline, etc.

Just be happy with the numbers and when you put your foot down.

Time to add plenum and perhaps bring the torque and HP on earlier and longer?

About 11%.

Why more modoholics don't do step-by-step dynos using a GTimer or equivalent, I don't get. My mod-virgin CS gets here in a week, and the GTimer is rarin' to go (though the weather sure ain't). Gonna use it not just to measure the effects of mods, but to measure the health of the machine over time.

I always thought K&N and desnork added some HP but I was told maybe 2HP from desnork, and K&N adds nothing-only evo adds HP.

Agreed. I am going to do the same thing when my CS arrives in about a month. Get to know her for a while (few months at least) and find out what the stock #'s are then incrementally make changes and chart the difference using the Gtimer.

Sorry boys but I had a Gtech Pro about 7 years ago, it read that my stock 1.8t audi had 250HP (180HP from the factory)and my stock jetta had even more. it is not accurate in my experience. It measures using Gforce so if there is a dip in the road or you turn it is not accurate. **this is with my experience** I would love to have one but maybe they are better now. Dyno companies would be out of business if they worked IMO

I agree that there could be huge error, but if you have a set reference area and used a standardized methodology each time you took readings the accuracy could be improved considerably. Same exact stretch of road, same start procedure (5 mph rolling start for example), same amount of fuel in tank, and you could even try to get similar weather conditions. Even if the numbers don't correspond exactly to the true bhp they would be relate to each other and therefore be a useful gauge of mod effectiveness.

We have a DynaPack in our shop and we REALLY like the results. It is easy to use, has load manipulation, convenience etc. etc. It is REALLY expensive vs. other units, but the advancements it has, far and above cover the additional expense.

I look forward to getting our Cayman S on it ASAP!

DynaPacks are the best, closest one to an engine dyno.

I'm sure the makers of DynoJet and Mustang dynos would debate that statement.

Are these still all your current mods or is it now the full APR exhaust as well?
Any other changes?
How about the APR software, not the already announced IPD plenum specific program, or?

301WHP 261WTRQ, not bad! What was your car stock?
I never dynoed mine bone stock, unfortunately.
