Has anyone dynoed catless headers?

Has anyone installed a catless header with the stock exhaust (Titanic, I know) and then dynoed it? That is a dyno I would love to see.

Re: Has anyone dynoed catless headers?

It seems like about 18 months ago someone dyno'd their aftermarket catback exhaust, then later added catless headers and re-dyno'd and actually saw a loss of either hp or torque, I don't remember which. I think they then took them off and put on headers with cats, but I don't know if they then did a later dyno run. I doubt that catless headers are going to double the HP output or anything and headers with cats usually have about an 8-10hp gain over stock manifolds, hardly seems worth going catless and polluting the air you breath for a couple of potential HP at best.

If you keep the stock exhaust then you are not polluting... but I would love to see the dyno.

Re: Has anyone dynoed catless headers?

The cats in the silencer are the "Main Catalysts". When you take off the OEM silencer and put on a catback you are polluting. Please, everybody who has a catback, do not throw stones, as you are in a glass house.

One could argue that installing catless headers, and leaving the "Main Catalysts" in place in the OEM silencer, is liklely to provide less pollution than the usual practice of leaving the tiny cats in the headers in place and removing the main cats. I think this is what Tomasz is suggesting.

Re: Has anyone dynoed catless headers?

Hey I thought he meant running open headers and a catback, meaning no cats at all, wasn't throwing stones either just stating that the performance impact of 100 cell cats isn't a lot.

Re: Has anyone dynoed catless headers?

Santa Fe I really could not figure it out. Anyway Fort is 100% right. I have a good sounding TechArt, but it uses most of the factory components including the 600 cpi cats. It stil has the dip around 3,300. If I keep that I rather save money and get the headers sans cats. They may also perform better.

For example, SharkWerks gets extra 20 plus HP when installing a set of headers on top of exhaust gains. I just wonder, what happens when stock exhaust is kept...

Titanic did this, but did not dyno. He did claim a 0.3s improvement in 1/4 mile. How much power is that?
