SRP 4.1 + Fabspeed + desnork dyno results
Last fall I reported on the baseline dyno results for my Cayman S when it was completely stock: http://www.planetporsche.net/porsche...mics-dyno.html. Data from the baseline runs are repeated below.
Over the winter I did the following modifications:
1. SRP 4.1
2. Fabspeed Maxflo catback exhaust
3. Fabspeed headers with 200 cell cats
4. Desnork
Here are new results with all these mods. The baseline and the latest dynos were done at KTR Motorsports ( KTR European Motorsports - KTR Racing - Vintage European Race Car Service, Support, and Restorations) in central MA on their Dyno Dynamics dynamometer.
The first chart below compares the before-and-after horsepower and torque numbers.
The peak horsepower went from 242 rwhp to about 266 rwhp, a gain of 24 rwhp. The peak torque increased from 210 lb-ft to 233 lb-ft, a gain of 23 lb-ft. Based on my butt dyno impressions, I was expecting larger gains. However, now that I study these charts, I can see that what the butt dyno was responding to was the overall increase in torque and horsepower from top to bottom, i.e. "area under the curve". There is power gained everywhere in the rpm range shown. Especially notable is the virtual elimination of the infamous dip in torque around 3500 rpm, which is something you can definitely feel on the road, and I've previously commented on that in these forums.
The second chart shows the before-and-after air/fuel ratios. With the mods, the AFR is notably leaner below 4000 rpm and almost identical to the baseline above that. I'm not sure what this implies in terms of performance, but perhaps Scott from Softronics can comment on that since I presume the AFR is determined by fuel map parameters in the ECU flash.
Overall I'm quite happy with the real-world performance on the road. The car feels significantly stronger than stock, especially above 3500 rpm, and driveability is excellent.

Re: SRP 4.1 + Fabspeed + desnork dyno results
Thanks for taking the time to actually show the before and after. Glad that you enjoy your mods. I am in similar situation but do not have headers installed.
That's roughly $5,500 for 24 hp or $230 per HP. The TPC turbo would give you 180HP more then your stock readout @ $230 per HP that would be $41,400.
I like that deal more and more.

Re: SRP 4.1 + Fabspeed + desnork dyno results
Thanks for the post and an accurate dyno with the mods including Softronic. While you could go with a Turbo you have to keep in mind of the weakest link or links and that would be the Pistons and rods. The pistons are not forged and will fatigue and break at the ring groove closest to the wrist pin . These tend to fail more in the track cars than street however pressurizing the cylinders makes up for that.
Softronic could easily sell a turbo kit since we have the programming and the cables to do so on the spot, however we will not. Kits that change the rods and pistons are a definite option.
The OP had a gain of about 24WHP in which is higher at the BHP level. Now these are not as high as a turbo or supercharger however his warranty would not be voided by adding one.
Best,
Scott

Also, to the point:
Some people don't like the idea of turbo and want to keep the NA engine.
I did the SRP and plan a borla. The total cost will be around 2800 dollars for both mods. If I get 25 RWHP, from the combination of the two, I've paid 112/hp. Still very reasonable given the circumstances.

Jake: Your results are on par for bolt-on upgrades, i.e. complete exhaust system and ECU upgrade. We noticed a similar power increase utilizing our Fabspeed complete exhaust system (Ver. 2 Maxflo Mufflers/Sport headers with HJS 200 cell cats) and a PES ECU upgrade--> +23HP/19 ft-lbs of torque on a 2003 Boxster S.

If I had about $12,000 that I could put into my car guilt-free, I would probably be knocking on TPC's door. For those with enough spending money to do the TPC turbo, I'm happy for you. For those who can do a fantastic car like Itmerc, I stand and applaud. Life is a trade-off.

Re: SRP 4.1 + Fabspeed + desnork dyno results
Tnanks for sharing. I am going down pretty much the same path. People will wonder if the money here was well spent. I am convinced and would argue that cat back exhaust and flash are definitely worth it. Neither will also risk your warranty. IMHO that isdefinitely a great deal. I am still wondering if plenum and headers are really worth the extra expense and risk. But, I am going down that path already...

Any after-market exhaust can void the warranty Period, cat back or headers, this also applies to a flash or any other mod Porsche deems when an engine or trans fails.
The flash used in the other above dyno was also Softronic.
