New BMW Sports Car .. and all new Porsche 911??

BMW’s M1 homage car is more than just a design study or concept car. It’s likely to see production within five years. According to reports in Auto Express, “Sources within the company claim that bosses are ready to give the green light to a production version of the recently unveiled M1 Hommage concept.” It would be a rival to the Audi R8 and the next generation of the Porsche 911 that is due out around 2011. Board member Herbert Diess told CAR magazine, "We have the know-how, we have the right engine, we even have the infrastructure to build such a car.” CAR says the car “almost certainly” will be built and it could be ready as early as 2010, although 2013 is more ikely. It would be a three-part chassis built from aluminum (likely) or carbon fiber (possible): front subframe and suspension; passenger cell; and rear subframe with suspension and drivetrain. They'll most likely be fabricated from aluminum, although a carbon fiber passenger cell is possible.

Engines would likely include:

* An evolution of the widely used twin-turbo six
* The M3’s V8 with a likely 4 second 0-60 time and 200 mph top speed.
* Diesel (possible)
* Hydrogen (possible)
BMW will launch new M1 by 2013 - BMW CCA

To BMW fans the Kidney grill is equal to the the front end of the 911 for Porsche fans....you and can revise slightly but don't be messing with it too much.

They will ruin it with iDrive and SMG.

The M1 has always been one of my favorite cars.
