I watched a little of the St. Pete ALMS race (not a spoiler)

...and the field seems rather anemic now that the Porsche and Audi P class cars are gone. Was it really only a 17 car field? Acura now has no real competition it seems, and the only good racing is in GT2 class. How quickly things can change. As much as I did not like Grand Am racing in the past, looks like I'll be watching a lot of that series now that Porsche is competitive. I hope ALMS survives.

You echo my thoughts (except for watching GrandAm). With Corvette coming into GT2 after LeMans, that field should get even better. In a way, I really like seeing the GT2 class gain some prominence with cars most (well, almost) people can identify with. Great to see BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, Viper, Panoz, FordGT all vying for honour. In a way, I like it even more with less prototypes around. The amount of coverage for the GT2's was great for a change....

Re: I watched a little of the St. Pete ALMS race (not a spoiler)

I went to see the '07 and '08 St. Pete ALMS races (I live within 3 hours of St. Pete) and had a great time. I root loudly for the GT2 Porsches, but it's just not as exciting for me if Porsche isn't going for overall victory. That's why I now have interest in Grand Am. I guess the DP Porsches aren't exactly all Porsche, but after the Daytona race, they are now close enough for me!
