Need some help comparing 2 981 Cayman S, the asking prices and fair offers.

2014 28,946 miles MSRP $82,810 Asking $56,995

black ext
black int
14 way power seats
20" carerra classic wheels

sport chrono
Infotainment with Bose
sport design steering wheel

my preferred color would be agate. I'll be putting btw 10-12.5 miles a year on the car as a daily driver except snow/bad weather and a twice weekly 150 mile round trip work commute. Not concerned about the mileage of the second car. Really just wish it wasn't black. My last A4 was black S Line/Sport and like everyone else it looked great when clean and gross with the spring pollen all over it. But otherwise seems like a hell of a car though it has had 3 owners and not sure why. Both clean car faxes.

Thights on the chiice and what would would be fair offers? Thanks in advance!!

General consensus is that Sport Chrono is almost a "must have" with PDK. The 2015 is missing SC and PASM.
Overall, the 2014 is better optioned in my view...I'd offer $50k for the '14 and see what the dealer comes back with.

I agree everything except the color is better on the 14. I think I could live with the color. I love agate but after that I don't really have a preference... black/red/white are all pretty much equal in 2nd place. The warranty is nice and I have been to this dealership and it is even more professional than other Porache dealers I have been to let alone Audi and BMW. So I feel comfortable buying from them vs an independent (albeit well reviewed for what it's worth) in another state.

It blows my my mind that there is that much mark up/wiggle room to negotiate on Porsche that I could even offer $50k. What are the chances of finding this good a deal/package of a car at this price point in grey if I wait itnout? Within 500 miles or so?

I think i alreasy know the answer and what I should do...

The problem that you have is that this is the worse time of year to negotiate discounts on sports cars. So don't be disappointed if dealers won't too budge much on price. Since you prefer agate gray, I'd go with that car and not "learn to live" with another color. provided that you want a car quickly. If I were spending a couple hundred dollars I'd compromise. When I spend $50K+, I get exactly what I want. Good luck.

For reference I just bought a 14 CS for 56k, 12,700 miles, transferrable CPO until mid 19, Orginal list $88k.
Agate Gray
Black Interior
PDK, CS, PASM, PSE
20" Sport Classic Wheels
Folding Mirrors
Crest in Seat
Premium Plus
Car originated in PA then purchased by owner I bought from in Atlanta now in Birmingham.
Stock Goodyear tires with the rears needing to be replaced soon which is fine by me as I would prefer Michelin any way.
Needed 2nd oil change based on time which I did myself as well as air cleaners.
Sent card in for CPO transfer.
i am very happy with except for drone with PSE at highway speeds. But I have several ideas to solve this issue.

Bottom line be patient the right car is ought there. This car had been for sale for over 2 months.

Another car I considered was a 16 with 16k CPO, Porsche Dealer, $10k less in options, sitting on the lot 3-4 months, wanted 65 would take 62.5, Rhodium Silver. I liked my car better.

Easy: The 2014.

First, it's further along the depreciation curve.
Second, as someone noted, it's better optioned.
Third: Dealers can handle 2014s as CPOs but one thing they check is some secret bit of electronics that confesses how many times you've hit the rev limiter, which they calla Stage 4. I was told they will not CPO a car with even one Stage 4. I was curious about mine (agate gray, BTW) and I had 104 "Stage 4"!!! Why? Because I track the hell out of it. That makes me wonder if the 2015 has been abused as my 2014.:) If so, walk away.

Very interesting. Thanks all for the thoughts especially the CPO info and depreciation point. I am headed to the dealer at 9am tomorrow to drive it, see if they meet the other offers I've gotten for my A4 and see what they are willing to negotiate.
