So I went to the dealer...
I went to my local dealer to inquire about ordering an '09 CS. The sales manager told me that at this point there really aren't any more '09s to order and that the '10s should be coming out somewhere around Aug or Sep. He said that the '09s came out late and that they're not making many. At any rate, he offered me 8% off MSRP of a custom order '10. Does this sound like a good deal to you guys?

I don't know about the limited '09 story, but 8% off MSRP is just an okay deal at your end of the country. On this coast it would be a fine deal, but I'd shoot for at least 10% on an order.

i would def shop around for better. every region is diff but i got 9% off a custom ordered CS in NJ. this was back in dec of '07 when the market was obviously much stronger & my car was very light on options so there was not as much profit built as a highly optioned car might have had. good luck.

Re: So I went to the dealer...
Do you guys know any dealerships, (especially in the tampa area) that would offer a better deal? I went to Fields in Tampa. I have also been to Burt Smith in St. Pete and they offered MSPR.

Re: So I went to the dealer...
You could try Porsche.com and use the dealer locator page to see the dealers within the range you would be willing to travel to buy. Then just fire off emails to each or call them. I did this from Houston in 2008 on a 997. Ended up buying an ordered car from Park Place in Dallas. They had the earliest allocation and best discount. Flying up to get the car and driving home was a great experience. Maybe others know your area and can comment. In any case, best of luck in the search.

Every year there are a limited amount, they're limited to as many as the projected sales. It sounds right to me. We usually have a waiting list of at least 6 months here so anything you order now (in SA) would probably be a '10.
One thing to watch out for is the '10 prices might not be the same and they wouldn't have the new prices yet. When I ordered mine the price of all the options went up when the new MY came out. I had the choice of canceling or paying more.

Re: So I went to the dealer...
I ordered my car just about this time last year, and my dealer spent a week trying to trade build slots slots with other dealers so my car could get built. Supposedly the crunch was because of the big changes for '09, so I'm a little surprised that you're in the same situation. Eventually he was successful, and I ordered for $2000 over invoice.

What about Suncoast in Sarasota?? They could be considered remote Tampa area, maybe.
They're a Platinum level sponsor of this site!

I talked to Alex Wessel at Braman Motorcars unfortunately just after I commited to another dealer out of state. Alex is truly a dream to work with, he offered a further discount than I had on a ordered 08 and is very knowledgeable about P-Cars, would get my next car from him without any hesitation, I'd try him for sure, PM me if you like and I'll talk to him, he still mails me from time to time to see how the car is even tho he didn't sell it to me and he know's it's unlikely that I'll be upgrading anytime soon, good luck

What good be a good price on an '09 or '10? Does 10% off sound right?

Re: So I went to the dealer...
Have you tried Reeves? I have no experience with their sales end, but service is top notch and it's a pretty large dealership.

Re: So I went to the dealer...
I made an error in my original post. I went to Reeves Porsche. Fields in the BMW dealership that my other car came from. My fault. Lol.

I would agree. Braman highly recommended. A PCA club member just bought 2 cars from them after having very poor results at other dealers, and he couldn't said enough good things about them.

From reading here and going thru dealer quotes in 08, 10% dosen't sound to bad, don't recall anyone here getting more off a 09, there are a few post where guy's have got less off but I believe they were on the west coast. Certain areas give better discounts, I found Florida/East coast one of the better ones, good luck and if you have the time hunt down Alex @ Braman, good guy.

There is only one other Porsche dealer in the Tampa area and as mentioned already, it is Suncoast Porsche in Sarasota. Take 75 South to Clark Road. Make a right on Clark. Go 4.7 miles to US 41. Hang a right. Proceed 1.6 miles and there you are. By the way, I do not work for or have any vested interest in Suncoast Porsche.
When I shopped Lexus and BMW vehicles, I found Sarasota prices to be better than Tampa or St. Pete.
Did you sell the 335i or will you trade it in? Could be tricky without paying off your BMWFS loan first. Expect quite a bit less than KBB trade-in value indicates-it may be a good time to buy a vehicle, but as with housing, you will pay for it big time when you try to sell.
I have the same problem. I bought a 2007 fully loaded CPO 3 Series and owe BMWFS about $12,000. Before I buy or lease a Cayman, I would pay off the balance of my loan, get the title and take my licks in the market. KBB indicates I should get $24k on a dealer trade, but realistically, I've heard that folks are being offered around $20k for similar vehicles.
