Best deal on Cayman S 2009

Just wondering what is the best deal in USA you guys have on Cayman S 2009 model? I am going to order one anytime. Just want to know what kind of discount I should get?
Not only I want to have the best deal, but I want to be fair to the salesman too. We all works for $ right?
All inputs are appreciated.

Re: Best deal on Cayman S 2009

Just to make sure you're clear on this: If you're going to order a car, then you're going to be ordering a 2010 model, not 2009. The build slots for 2009s are gone. If you want a 2009, you'll have to take what's on the dealer's lots.

The official order guides for the 2010 models is not out yet - and probably won't be out until the late summer at the earliest. You can probably spec a 2010 using the 2009 order guide as a reference, but what will be officially available on US-market 2010s is anybody's guess right now. A dealer might take a deposit from you to hold a spot, but won't be able to actually place an order in the ordering system for a 2010 for quite some time.

It would also help people here to give you intelligent advice if you were to explain what kind of options you're looking for, and where you are located geographically - both of these factors make a big difference in prices... cars with more options have more leeway in pricing/discount, and your location makes a huge difference as far as how many competing dealers are in the area, and how many cars the dealers sell - build slots for new cars are determined by a particular dealer's sales volume.

Re: Best deal on Cayman S 2009

Thanks again, if the dealer couldn't promise me what is the finally price. Why I have to pay a deposit to lock myself till July. Because by that time, I might change a little of my requirement for the left over 2009 model if they have really good deal on it.

Re: Best deal on Cayman S 2009

Beez is right regarding the 2010's...they are the only cars you can spec out and you would be doing so with a 2009 order guide at this point. It's been this way for all 15 years I have been with Porsche, and will for the next 15 as well. Another thing that doesn't change is we don't know the price of the first few months of allocation until they are built...again, the preceeding year is a fairly decent guide.

Most Porsche buyers either drive a car or they drive a payment, and there are sound reasons for both. I drive a payment...selling Porsches doesn't pay anywhere near what my clients typically earn, so I am willing to make concessions to drive the most affordable car but still have a Cayman S. Others want the car built with exact specification and to have never allowed others to drive it at all. This comes at a higher cost of course, a price many consider to be worth it.

If a customer acts like they want to "drive a car" and they build something custom but then reneg on the deal and decide they want to "drive a payment" the dealership may still sell a car, but the custom order is rarely something the dealer would have chosen without it being pre-sold, and he is stuck with it. It's not cool to do that anytime, but particularly in this economy.

Try to define what you want most, when you really want to have the car and plan accordingly. There's no shame in being a payment buyer, but you can't expect a dealer to confirm a final price on a car when he hasn't a clue what his cost on the car will be. If price is that sensitive wait for the 2010's to have their pricing announced prior to making a commitment...but whatever you do get a car...this vehicle rocks!

Re: Best deal on Cayman S 2009

You could definitely negotiate an 'X' amount below MSRP. MSRP shouldn't change substantially, and neither dealer profit. I'd not give a deposit blindly on a CS, but that's just me. Good luck.
