    Red / Black 2011 Cayman S - Considering Selling...

Unfortunately, I have zero time to drive my 2011 Cayman S. I've put in over 250,000 flight miles in 2012 and will probably 2x that in 2013.

I've put a lot of work into the car (over $40k) and it's a looker. All this work has been done by Boardwalk Porsche by the same fantastic person (John Gladwill) who can certify that everything I did was "done right".

It has 14,850 miles on it currently.

Before upgrades it's MSRP was $81,575 and here's the original page:
New 2011 Porsche Cayman S Coupe Guards Red BU780518 - Park Place Dealerships in Dallas, Fort Worth & Plano

    I've then added:
    Bilstein PSS9 Suspension
    Tubi Exhaust
    GT3 Seats with 6-Point Harness
    GT3 Lower Control Arms
    GT3 Ducts
    Giro Disk Rotors
    Power Steering Cooler
3M clear protection (complete coverage in front - not 1/2 way up)
Additional items inside (door cloth pulls, fire-extinguisher, dash delete, etc.)
I also have extra wheels (OZ), tires, and parts and a car trailer (if wanted)
Also have the original seats and original exhaust.

Painted hood (by Boardwalk Porsche) and top black and painted wheels to include red trim in guards red to match.

Here's three current pictures and can take more:

    IMG_0844.JPG
IMG_0853.JPG (with OZ wheels and trailer)
IMG_0856.JPG (always kept indoors with car cover)

I wouldn't sell it for less than $78k as there's $40k+ in the car.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on letting this kind of car go - breaks my heart.

As a final farewell, I will be driving it at COTA January 12-13th if you want to see it in person.

Car is located in Dallas, Texas.

    Thanks.

That's a very high MSRP. I can't see the current photos due to a restriction on my work PC, but it sounds like quite the build. That being said, you'll be much better off parting out the seats/suspension/exhaust and selling the car as close to stock as possible. GLWS

I do think that's a fair price considering the extra wheels/tires. If the person was easy to work with, I'd even give them the trailer.

I would part it out if I were you. I'm not sure you'll get what you are asking out of it

Selling it for parts requires time which is what I don't have - why I'm looking to sell this in the first place. If that's the resounding message from this post, then I will just keep it.

    Thanks!

I think you'll have a tough time selling it for maybe even 65k based on the new model coming out, the extreme depreciation on options, and the personal touches (hood, roof, wheels) you've given the car.

I think it's an awesome car, but it's so unique that there are probably only a couple people that would want that specific car. All others wouldn't care about the options...

I'd keep it if I were you, or see what you could get for trade-in.

It's always easier/faster to sell a car without the mods. I think your price is fair given all that's gone into it, but you'll be waiting for the person that would want the car exactly as it sits, and also sees the value in your mods.

I know exactly where you are coming from with the move to sell. I attained status on two airlines, two hotels and two rental car companies last year due to business travel. It was tempting to sell everything and just live on the road, but my wife didn't quite agree.

    GLWS, it's a beautiful car.

Re: Red / Black 2011 Cayman S - Considering Selling...

    Thanks for the messages.

I'm going to be driving it at COTA in two weeks and I guarantee that my mood to sell will change after the event. The car is on rails and I wouldn't replace it with anything that I like better.

    Happy NYE.

Beautiful car. Unfortunately, I think you're going to have a hard time selling it at that price. I'm paying less than that for a well-optioned 981 Cayman S brand new. If you want to move it fast, you're going to have to take a hit. That's always the case; no way to avoid it. However, I can't see the value necessarily holding, considering the longer you wait, 981s are going to be coming to the used market. Best of luck to you. Nicely put together!
