RS98's
I've seen several threads on the RS98's and I've got to say that look is starting to grow on me. Does anyone know of any dealers that have good pricing on the 19" ones?

A sponsor here gave me a price of $4420 plus ship. Don't know if that is good or bad yet.

Re: RS98's
Sounds like a good price to me! Champion gave me a price of $5.200.00 a week or so ago. Must be a big mark-up there, though I made no effort to negotiate it lower.

Re: RS98's
There is a member selling a red cayman with RS98's on it and is willing to part the car out, selling the wheels alone. Check the Caymans for sale.

Don't know if this is the sponsor rsfdoc is referring to, but you might check with Wheel Enhancement (sponsor).

Re: RS98's
My 18" RS98's from the group buy, still new in the boxes with all packing material intact are available. PM me if interested.
I know many prefer the "look" of 19's, however the 18's have several performance advantages such as lighter weight and more choices of performance tires which are also lighter and less expensive than 19's.

Re: RS98's
This is a noobish question but do any of you use your RS98's (or any other high end wheel) for track/auto-x ? I'm trying to decide which way to go with my son pushing me to buy the 18 or 19 Champions (don't you just love the way teenagers help spend your money?). Think it would be better to get OEM 18's for racing and keep the RS98's for street use only. That way if some tire handler scratches a wheel I wouldn't have to hurt him .

This question was on my mind when the GB came up. Do you dare use these super light weight wheels for the track (which is what they are designed for), and risk damage, and not be able to replace them, or reserve them for the street, which is kind of a waste to use high performance wheels for.

Re: RS98's
Mine are only being used for the track. I fully expect them to get beat up from track use - but I bought them for their light weight and perfect widths & offsets for the track. Appearance be damned.

I also got mine specifically for the track - I think they are just as likely to get damaged on the street by potholes, curbs, etc.

Re: RS98's
I got mine from the GB due to the light weight and high strength to be used for track and autocross. While I do like the look, that was not a significant factor. If unable to sell them, that will be the way they are used.
The 19's are probably more vulnerable to damage (track or street) due the shorter sidewalls. There have been posts here in the past regarding damage to any brand of 19's from curbs and pot holes. Damage to either size is much more likely on the street than track IMO.
The current issue of SportsCar (SCCA mag) has a good article on wheels.

I've attached my Cayman on 19 inch RS98's... I bought the car used with them already fitted, and although I LOVE the wheels, I'm not sure I could justify the thousands of dollars to buy them if it was my money... maybe hold out for a used set...?
