Using 17 inch wheels on the Cayman S.

I'm looking into buying a set of track/autoX wheels and tires. Is it possible to run a full set of 17 inch wheels and tires all the way around my Cayman S? Will they clear the brake calipers? Am I crazy for considering this, and would it be easier to run 18s instead?

The answer to your question is just a click of the search button away.

But yes, it is possible. Tire Rack sells 17" wheels that will fit. I know, I have them!

Alex, You'll find that 17" Track rubber is more expensive and has less choice than 18"
Most 17" Porsche rims are only 6 1/2" front and 8" rear, which will fit over the front callipers with the help of a 7mm spacer.
If I was you I'd go 18" for the reasons described above.

I got the Sport Design wheels that I show in my full review here:

Probably not ideal for the track, since the front and rear are the same width (the wheels, but not the tires).
