Forgeline polished lip

Does anyone know if the polished lip on Forgeline rims has clear coat? I've got dust residue that left some black spots on the lip. Provided that they aren't clear coated, does anyone have recommendations on what cleaner/polish to use? Thanks in advance.

I would think that they are clear coated. Test in inconspicuous area?

Re: Forgeline polished lip

I think the brake dust has eaten into the coating if there is a coating. I just don't want to use metal polish and make it much worse. I'll have to try to find a spot that isn't too noticeable.

I know Forgeline will redo them for a fee, but I need to find a good way to clean these and reduce the brake dust on a regular basis.

Re: Forgeline polished lip

As I understand it, Forgelines are pretty much all custom built and there are many options for how lips and inners are finished. I'd suggest grab a serial number and call forgeline to ask about best way to clean/repair.

Re: Forgeline polished lip

If you are the oringinal owner and you did not spec a clear coat it is doubtful that they are clear coated. I have purchased a lot of product from Dave and have yet to have him add a clear coat.
