Tire Reccomendation

I am currently running with Lowered H&R springs 2.7 Liter Cayman No PASM
Nitto 275/30 ZR19 on my rear NT555-1 Extreme ZR is the model

These tires have been Excellent as far as wear and tear and seem to do the job really well as far as handeling and ride. I do not Track my car as of yet.
but what I am wanting is MORE of the Wheel WELL gap covered up ?
There seems to be a pretty good size gap between the top of the tire and bottom of the wheel WELL .I want to have as little as gap as possible without causing and Problems of course.

275/ 35,40,45,50 ??? ZR19
after I get the Tires I will be doing wheel spacers to bring it out some (14MM Maybe)

Any sugestions would be appreciated,

Re: Need Advise On rear Tires

I went to the Nitto site to look at the specs...

Nitto Tire - High Performance Tires for Car and Truck Enthusiasts

...and it looks like there's only two 275 width tires in 19" size - a 275/30 and a 275/35. If you want the tire to be taller, then go with the 275/35... it is 26.57" in diameter where the 275/30 is 25.63" in diameter - that will get you another almost .5" to fill up the space... not that much when you think about it. It looks like the 275 width is the widest they have in the 19" size.

Re: Need Advise On rear Tires

Why do you think that Porsche didn't drop the car and fill the wheel wells with big ol' tires? Supporting the aftermarket, hindering performance intentionally, no style sense? Always a mystery.

Winter driving and chains, they should have a Cayman "Allroad" or a Cayman "Outback"

Tie Reccomendation

Ok I need some opinions here my choices are
295/30ZR19
or
285/35ZR19

Trying to fill the rear without having to install wheel spacers and fill the gap between the tire and wheel well that is too big.

Also what Tire would be reccomended - I have a line on someToyo Proxes for $700.00 for 2 rear .
would the 295's Look funny?
would the 35"s be too high?

Peter - You're basically asking the exact same question in this new thread... threads merged.

re: Tire Reccomendation

Peter - Here is the relative diameters of the tires...

Your present tire: 275/30-19 is 25.63"
A 285/35-19 is 25.8"
A 295/30-19 is 25"

So, the 285/35 will be .2" larger in diameter than what you have now. You have to divide that in half, because the diameter will be evenly divided on the "top" and "bottom" (so to speak) of the tire... so, the tallest of your options will only take up aprox .1" (one tenth of an inch) more space.

All of them would basically visually look the same in terms of height, until you got down and measured them.

To get your car to look like that you have to lower it more. That is really slammed.

Re: Need Advise On rear Tires

themporer is right - if you want the car to look like that, you will have to lower it more. If you try to do this with larger diameter tires, you'll have a rear tire that is so large in diameter that you'll end up messing up the ABS and PSM sensors, which is not a very good thing.

Re: Tire Reccomendation

So Maybe I will just do the 295/30 ZR19 and then at least it will be wider and maybe i wont have to install Spacers .Guess I will just have to live with the gap until I get adjustable shocks .

I will see what these tires look like on my car tomorrow before I pay for them just to make sure it does not look odd with such wide tires

Thanks for the help

295 is pretty wide - what width wheels are you going to put them on? The wheels should be at least 10"...10.5" would be better. If they're not that wide, they may bulge the sidewalls out enough to make the 295s rub against either the fender or the shocks.

Re: Tire Reccomendation

Please consider your needs carefully. Back when I was in my 30's I messed up one 911 trying mods for reasons that really didn't perform and detracted from the original car.
Cost as much to return the car to stock as add all the junk. It is great to have a place like this to seek and receive information rather than guessing or listening to aftermarket marketing BS.

Re: Sante Fe

Larger diameter tires will mess with your speedo readings, decrease acceleration and decelleration performance, make the car sit higher, and if there is enough difference between front and rear, mess with ABS and PSM. Have you considered spacers to move the tires out toward the lip to make it appear that the wells are more filled?

Re: Tire Reccomendation

Went with some 295/30ZR19 TOYO PROXY tires and it looks a lot better !!

The GT-5 wheels I have on the car needed a little wider tire tire and now I do not think I need wheel spacers at all -The wider and slightly higher profile tire really filled in the gap I was not happy with.Car looks good with the lowered H&R's and now I am much happier.

Tires were a little pricey $735.00 for the 2
4 wheel allignment with camber adjustment $189.00

I was told TOYO make the Nitto tires by the Tire co -Very similar looking tire and tread just a little more $$$

I would reccomend the Toyo or Nitto tires to anybody though the Nito NT555 was Awsome handeling and still had 1/3 tread left after 30K miles on them
they just do not make the size I needed
