Anyone have Nitto NT05s? Looking for feedback on AX experience with them.

So my mechanic talked me out of doing alignment now and waiting until I get the new set of tires.

That said, I am very seriously considering Nitto NT05s instead of $$$ on another set of PS2s.

I have found feedback from some of you about how they do in rain on the track and highway. But how about Autocross events? How do they stick in dry and wet?

They will outgrip the PS2's in auto-x, no doubt. They are more aggressive. Along with the RE11, RT615, Z1, etc. they make the best auto-x tires as they provide the highest level of grip without needing to warm up like r-compound tires.

I had 888's on my Lotus, and they would only start to really grip after maybe 3-4 successive runs.

I am investing in the NT-05's as - along with the RE11's - they are really the only good choice in their class due to price and optimal sizing (285-35-18 is close to stock diameter). I am choosing them over the RE11's due to a stiffer sidewall.

Imo.

They are also more durable than PS2s. I autocross and track on them, they're solid tires, with a radical tread pattern.

My speculation, from having read almost every damn forum out there (subaru, mitsu, and etc.) that NT05s might be more durable with heavy AX use, since the sidewall is much stiffer than PS2. Stiffer sidewall = less or no rollover?

Less roll over.

The weak spot on a PS2 is right where the outside shoulder rolls over on. That's the thinnest part of the tire, and the stock Cayman suspension settings kill it a with a precision bordering on supernatural. NT-05s have a pretty damn stiff sidewall in comparison to other tires I've run. The tread blocks are also nice and thick, and to me the compound seems a lot less soft and weak than a PS2. I would certainly recommend them over the Michelins. The only thing you may dislike is the tire noise. NT-05s are definitely louder on my car than the PS2s. This doesn't bother me, as I could care less about tire noise, but others may find it irritating. Don't do like me, get that camber fixed before you install them, or you'll still end up with uneven wear in the front.

Re: Anyone have Nitto NT05s? Looking for feedback on AX experience with them.

Will 295-35-18 rub on stockish offset and ride height? Will they then rub with a mild lowering? (20mm)

It might not matter, since I will probably get spacers, but just wondering if anyone has tried this size.
