Would you ever consider buying Rotas for your car?

just out of curiosity: would you ever consider buying a set of Rotas for your Cayman or Boxster?

Re: Would you ever consider buying Rotas for your car?

I read about them on the Ford Focus forum a lot.

For a Porsche, I guess I'd say: why not... A wheel is a wheel. If you like their look and their light weight, go for it.

No. I've seen some destroyed by a high hp Honda. Quality isn't anywhere near Porsche standards IMO.

you know high HP and Honda don't usually go hand in hand can you direct me to some pics? I'm curious as to how it was destroyed.

Porsche wheels > Rota wheels, i think that's a given. the question i have would be are replicas and brands like Moda (REALLY CHEAP on tirerack) as good or better than Rota?

Surfer:

I can't tell you about replicas, but I know about Moda. I had a pretty substantial off with my M3 on a set of Moda M1s. I can vouch for them being strong wheels, but they are really heavy. I bought a used set of BBS RX, which is not their most expensive. They're one piece. I could not believe how much lighter they were just changing them. I don't know the weights of either wheel, but there had to be 5 lbs difference minimum per wheel. When you can feel it picking them up, it's substantial.

That said, the Modas got me home after going off at Turn 4 at Blackhawk and riding the pile of tires up onto the the top of the concrete wall. It took 2 tow trucks about 20 minutes to get me down. I was not popular with the next run group.

The front wheel that took the biggest hit was bent a little but not visibly. The other three were fine.
