how many mileage on your original tires
I was curious on what the average mileage was on your original factory tires before you needed a new set?

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
My experience is the rears wear a lot faster, typically 2-3x.

True that, a set of rears at 12,000 and the fronts are about ready to go now at 20,000.

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
Replaced my rear PS2's with some tread (4 or 5/32nds) remaining at 17,500. Surprisingly, even with tread left, I had the sense of diminished grip in the back. Fronts are going strong.
And no, I'm not a granny, nor do I drive like one. I just do no burnouts or silly stuff. The car is light and not very hard on tires, keep it at about 30f/36r cold for the street (used to be at 32/37, but I like the grip/feel/ride of slightly lower better).

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
19" PS2's typically getting 15K rears, 17.5K fronts.
19" P Zeros got 24K fronts!
(Picked up a nail and had to replace both rears at 10K)

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
Replaced my rear 18" PS2's at 20K. Could have gotten another couple of K to the wear bar. Also had it alined, made a big improvement for daily driving.

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
I have the RE-050's and have 16K on them so far. Front and rear seem to be wearing fairly evenly and I'm guessing I'll get 20 on them before they need replacing.
A lot of my driving is fairly tame, but I do my share of playing and do have (alas only) one DE - three days, at least - on them.

19" PS2 Rears replaced at 20K. Fronts are still OK. No track days but a couple of AX.

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
I got 30,000 out of the rear RE-050, the fronts still have 10,000 miles remaining on them.

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
9.5K on all 4 19" PS2's with the rears down to 1mm of tread. Tracked a few times - the last time in the rain (that was fun). I'll replace them next week.

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
13 k miles on 18" PS2 tires and counting. Plenty of tread. The previous owner drove the car in city streets only.

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
Approaching 14.8K with my Potenza RE050As. No surprise that the fronts are fairing better than the rears which have about 3mm left on each side (no trackdays) so plenty to spare before reaching the 1.6mm UK minimum requirement.
My mate has an E39 M5 with Pirelli PZeros. If you blast it off the lights like he does (at every opportunity) they don't last very long...his lasted 3K in 5months (with no trackdays)!!!

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
Do you always drive in dry weather in the UK? 1.6mm is not enough in the wet, my personal limit is 3mm (about 4/32nds). You might want to watch some tirerack test videos on what happens when you brake with 1.6mm vs. 3mm in the wet.

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
Original equip Sport Contact 2s, 19000, fronts still strong and replaced rear at 18000. Road and only 1 DE (on the new rears).

Just watched the tirerack test videos...very interesting and point well made .
It's not a 'Garage Queen' but I do try to avoid very wet conditions.
Incidently, my CS had it's 1st service at my local OPC over the w/e. The service guy said "no need to change them, they're fine" and didn't raise any concerns about driving in the wet ...maybe he's expecting a very dry summer!?!?

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
My original PS2s lasted 19,500 miles, including 4 or 5 autocrosses and 1 slow DE where I wasn't familiar with the track. The rears were maybe 1/32 over the wear bars, but the fronts could have gone another 5,000 miles.

Re: how many mileage on your original tires
On 19" PS2's I got 19k miles on rears and they were just about to the wear bars. The fronts had enough left for another 3 or 4k. I replaced the backs and have only used the fronts for AX. The fronts will be "done" after the summer. I have fresh 18" PS2's for touring.
