Yokohama AD08 Neova-review

We recently had an opportunity to test the latest version of the Yokohama Neova-the AD08. We put a 19" set on one of our modified Caymans, this one set up for the track (3.8 liter X-51, Moton suspension, lowered, rear wing, GT3 front end, etc). We ran a day at Lime Rock and a day at the Monticello Motor Club. Very impressive!

Excellent grip, very controllable with predictable breakaway and nice even wear. No visible chunking after some very aggressive lapping. The only downside was the grip levels were higher than expected. We wanted to get some nice smoky tail-out shots on a lower speed corner, but the tires would barely break loose.

I am running a set of the AD07 Neovas and have been extremely happy with them in both the wet and the dry. But the new version raises the bar considerably. They are the best dual-purpose (street and track) tires I have ever seen. And the pricing is very good, especially when compared to the Sport Cup. They seem to be making sizes for most Porsche applications, too.

German tires go on when they make the best performance tires - my set of AD08's is in the garage and will be on soon - 255/35-19 and 295/30-30

But alas, not the stock sizes for the 18" or 19" Cayman S.

At least Bridgestone with the RE-11 has heard our pleas.

Yes - too bad about the stock sizes from Yoko but Bridgestone doesn't have the sizes I was looking for. If so I probably would have gone with them since I used the RE01R's on my RS4 and was pleased.

Bridgestone does have the new RE-11 in the 18" OE sizes for the car. They are a step above the RE-01R and the Advan for performance. In the factory sizes they are the best that we have tested.
