    Powder coating wheels

Howdy ! New CS owner here and was wondering if anybody has tried powder coating OVER the factory wheel finish. I own a motorcycle shop and do a lot of powder coating in house. In the past we have powdered over parts we have done here but only with same mfg powders. Interested to know if anyone has run into compatibility issues... Just being lazy ! I'm trying to avoid using the icons but those beer guys are tempting......

    Re: Powder coating wheels

Isn't the recommended process is powdercoating over a bare metal finish? The wheel can be sanded or dipped to remove the existing paint or even a powdercoat. I have see steel parts put into the oven and have the existing finish burned off.

    Re: Powder coating wheels

Oh yeah, I know, but Ive done it before. Like I said, just being lazy ! I'm more concerned with compatibility issues. Mainly, does porsche paint or powder their wheels ? I'm assuming powder and if so my equipment has the current to allow the powder to stick to the work over existing powder.

I believe that factory wheels are painted, not powder coated.

    Re: Powder coating wheels

Rats. Well, stripping paint is WAY easier than stripping powder. Thanks !
