I agree. I don't know exactly where GM wants to take the Corvette but it really has changed direction. I did see those posts you talked about, and it reassurd me I was correct to make the decision not to wait for the C7. I have a (what's the opposite of a warm fuzzy) feeling that the C7 is going to have some serious teething issues. Along with what you mentioned, the new LT1 engine with all the cylinder deactivation along with other new, for GM, electronics, just makes me shiver.
The plus to all this trepidation was the discovery of our Boxsters. The last time I REALLY had fun with a car was a Miata we had about 11 years ago. Not to say the Z wasn't fun, but on the street, I hated the say I had to drive it, like I had a raw egg under my accelerator pedal foot. You know all the pluses to the BS so I don't need to explain what I mean. But my curiosity means I will keep tabs on the C7, but like you, I don't see one in my future.
