Lightbulb Detailbest.com LABOR DAY CONTEST!

Another contest as we promised. You can win a free Zymol Wax (choice of Creme or Carbon-8oz. tub)!

What is the most rewarding LABOR portion of detailing your car?

(Other than watching bikini-clad hottie women detail your car, while you watch and drink beer)

Post your replies here. Deadline is 12:01AM EDT on LABOR DAY!

Have a great holiday weekend!

PS:

Many of you may have BMWs also. We will be vending at the BMWCCA Oktoberfest in Watkins Glen, NY September 23-27.

Check out the free Detailbest.com reception at the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel on Tuesday 9/23 from 2-6 pm. Have some cold drinks and snacks on us! This is the ONLY CHANCE to get Zymol products before the BMW CCA Concours at Watkins Glen in the local area.

If you're in the area (even if you don't have a BMW) please stop in and say hello! This is an open event.

Best regards,

Roger the Waxmeister

Roger, what can I buy from you that will safely remove paint from my front bumper? I rolled into the garage door and now have yellow paint on my Guards Red Cayman. Do you have something that will take the yellow of and at the same time leave the red on? I really want to get this repaired, hopefully without going to a detailer. Can I do this myself?

Lightbulb Try Zymol HD Cleanse FIRST!!

Before you get out the heavy artillery, try HD Cleanse.

Let me tell you a story about a fellow vendor on the Lime Rock Park Manufacturers' Midway.

The lady had a new rental van that had a bit of an "encounter" with a large painted fencepost. A lot of unwanted paint was acquired with the several correction attempts with her husband now at the wheel.

I estimated the rental co. would probably whack her around $3000, judging by the appearance of over 5 feet of unwanted paint. And the van had only around 900 miles on it!

I removed ALL the damage in less than an hour with HD Cleanse and a prewax applicator. No telltale hints for the rental co. that anything ever happened.

The lady is now a customer!

HD cleanse is cheap enough at $26., and worth a spot on your detailing shelf anyway. So it's not a wasted purchase. Give it a try! You CAN do it yourself!

Has to be the curves. Especially sudsing up and washing the curvy quarter panels around wheels. Also, it may sound a bit over-the-top for some but I enjoy cleaning the area around the door hinges and keeping the area spotless and like-new. Every time I get into my CS I want it to be just like the first time.

I think the most rewarding LABOR portion is removal of the wax. After wiping during the wash, rubbing the clay to clay the car, wiping to remove the detailer, applying the wax by hand...my shoulders are burning! Give that time to the wax haze and as soon as i start wiping and feeling that burn come back to my shoulders, it all hits me. I went through that heat and pain to get these results. What i aimed for when i started, to see my reflection and the reflection of the surrounding area so perfectly.

The second i step back and take a look when i finish, I just get that feeling of accomplishment.

The most rewarding LABOR portion for me is cleaning the wheels. Sometimes thats all I do and it makes the car look 10 times better. With 19" sportdesigns I find using my finger in the little corners and crevices is the easiest. A little sponge that fits around ones finger would be the perfect tool. That said, a good wax is always rewarding too

Labor rewarding

The most labor rewarding, no doubt is seeing the results, especially on the rear 1/4 panels. The results of seeing the deep almost layers of paint giving you the high gloss reflection. To me that is worth all the labor. When you can look into your waxed car and see all the different depths of your paint, that is perfect.

my cayman s is guards red, and the most rewarding part of a detail is the hood after cleaning, claying, and waxing to the point of it being mirrorlike so that you can see yourself in the reflection. the rear quarter fender bulges are also another rewarding area, simply because of the complex curves that really show off the shine. do you guys have any method for filling in very small rock chips with touch up paint to the point of it looking not touched up. these always get wax in them, and it looks worse than they really are, but when the wax dries the white contrast against the red looks bad. any suggestions? thanx, alex
