Re: Cayman Transparent Engine Cover

You're going to get spanked trying to sell a product if you are not a sponsor here.

That said, this is the nicest looking clear engine cover I've seen. If you join our community, I'd very very tempted to get your Engine cover.

Re: Cayman Transparent Engine Cover

Just click on the "sponsors" tab towards the top and there's a link you can click on to become a sponsor or just send "K-Man S" a PM.

Problem i see with this cover compared to the others is this one would have a lot more increased sound and heat in the cabin compared to the others. The sound and heat will not be contained within the engine compartent due to the elevation on the cover. They'd be able to work through the interior pieces with no problem at all

Wow... that's gorgeous compared to other offerings I've seen!

I agree though that excessive sound, heat and fumes looks like a problem in that design, unless there is some type of thick molded rubber gasket that would sit all the way around underneath the perimeter.

I love the look though and definitely want to find out more.

Re: Cayman Transparent Engine Cover

certainly the most elegant appearing of the covers. hope that the
complications - "excessive sound, heat and fumes " can be addressed.

welcome aboard.

Looks great. If it isn't too loud you have a definite winner on your hands. Looking forward to hearing some reviews.

Welcome to the site. I received your email with regard to sponsorship and have replied. Please feel free to email/call at your convenience so that we may discuss opportunities here.

Here I thought I'd finished testing clear engine covers and now may have another one to test. Yours would look nice with a Planet Porsche logo etched into it.

Re: Cayman Transparent Engine Cover

If you look closey, the cover seals over the compartment. The "spacers" are for the bolts to pass through to the lower panel of the compartment, and do not eleveate the cover when installed...............

I do like the idea of clear covers, with my only hesitation being the safety factor of eliminating the metal barrier between the engine and the passenger compartment.

Regards

Any GBs to bring this into the sub $500 range?

If this looks and works as nice as it would seem to I can see this being a big hit at sub $500 inclusive of tax and shipping. Time for some product testing. I wonder if we're going to see some more clear engine covers come out from other folks.

If you look closer, you'll see that the cover only forms a seal with the interior pieces of the trunk and not around the actualy engine compartment. Might seem like what you said due to them using a black car right there. If it were a brighter colored car it should show more noticably

Re: Cayman Transparent Engine Cover

It looks like there is black opaque edging around the perimeter of the clear material. So it should appear the same on any colored car. Maybe offer the perimeter edging in factory colors?

Gorgeous! I'll be waiting for an objective review and you can count me in (a group buy is not a bad idea)

+1... I agree... it seems the seal does not address the exposed plastic parts where heat and noise can infiltrate the cabin. I was thinking a thick molded rubber gasket that can be placed or removed around the perimeter would do the trick, and it shouldn't add to much more to the cost.

I'm VERY interested in this... I'm picturing my engine parts painted already!

Yes, wasn't getting to quite that level of detail. From what I had read, others were saying it was not sealed at all.

You ever going to come to some of our Atlanta events?! PCA AutoX May 3rd......

Regards,

Regards,
I definitely need to go to some events and meet some local clubbers. Girlfriend is flying in from out of town saturday night and the 3rd is my mother's birthday. I'll try to make time and come to the next one. I've been meaning to make it to a Caffeine n Octane meet

"group buy" "I'm picturing my engine parts painted already!"

Sounds like a potential hit to me.
