I purchased my Arctic Silver CS about 2 months ago.
I drive a lot around the Aiea and Ala Moana areas, where our offices are located. I have yet to see another Cayman on the road, aside from Poser's during our Test and Tune event with SCCA at the stadium.
This is my first Porsche and I love the car and the handling. I love the sound of the car too!
I with we still had a racetrack here, so we can really stretch the legs of the Cayaman a bit. I used to race a stripped out and race prepared Mustang Cobra at HRP, which I miss dearly.
In the meantime, I have been joining Poser at the SCCA solo events at the Aloha Stadium. The test and tune event was great, because you get to do tons of runs and really push the car, all in a safe environment. I was very impressed with the
PSM on this car and how well it works, without taking away too much in performance.
As for the safety at the stadium...I pushed too hard on a two turn section and actually spun the car backwards, but no harm done. We couldn't afford to do that without serious damage at Hawaii Raceway Park!
The SCCA events are something I highly recommend for all drivers and hope to see some Caymans out for the August 18th test and tune event. It is only $40 to run all day and the regular events are just $30!

The family that really helps to run this whole event are the Lee's...Curtis, Amy and Jennifer, all of whom are also great drivers and really spearhead the events.

PSM - Porsche Stability Management

While it can’t overcome the laws of physics, the revolutionary Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system does lend an added degree of balance and control to the Cayman’s mid-engine driving dynamics, inspiring surefooted confidence in corners and extreme situations.
A standard feature on the Cayman and Cayman S, PSM continuously monitors steering input, road speed, yaw velocity and lateral acceleration to calculate the actual direction of travel. If the car begins to steer off line, PSM instantly intervenes with precision brake inputs on individual wheels to help bring the car back onto the driver’s intended path.
If braking alone isn’t enough to correct the vehicle’s cornering line, PSM then calls on the Cayman’s engine management system, adjusting engine output as needed to help stabilize handling. PSM can also compensate in an instant for mid-corner changes in load resulting from deceleration or braking. When Sport mode is selected with the optional Sport Chrono Package, PSM’s threshold for intervention is raised, allowing for greater driver involvement. If you prefer driving without automatic PSM assistance, the system can be set to standby at any time. In this case, it will only intervene under heavy braking, where both front wheels exceed the ABS threshold.
For all of its technical ability, PSM goes virtually unnoticed in everyday driving situations, preserving the Cayman’s natural agility. |
