Visit to Carousel Porsche

I visited Carousel Porsche today and got to see a Design Edition 1 live. It's a nice looking car and the stripes are much more understated than I would have believed. I have been thinking about getting Bumperplugs to paint some of the pieces of my car on the inside - after seeing the Design Edition 1 - I am going to go ahead with that.

Talking to the guy who sold me my car, he said that they are having a tough time getting their hands on inventory and wait times are going up. He said 'all the inventory is going to Russia and China'.

I went and test drove a 996TT. It was a cabriolet - not a personal favorite - I'm a coupe guy. It was very nice but the clutch was very springy and the shifter kind of indistinct compared to my CS. There was no denying the horsepower though. Pretty cool.

He told me that used 997TTs are selling for more right now than they were due to the shortage of new inventory.

Given the growing demand for Porsche's in emerging regions - and the relative softness in price in the US (notice all the discount talk?) - I suspect Porsche is redirecting its inventory overseas where demand is high - and leaning out the mixture in areas that are seeing softness.

The net result for all of us is that our used cars should keep their value. For those who are in the market - they may see fewer discounts. Now all this talk was about 997s and Cayennes - perhaps the Valmet factory can keep the whole system properly primed.
