Washington DC Auto Show February 4th-8th 2009
Just a little FYI to any MD or other surrounding area people that the W.A.S begins next week on the 4th (Wednesday) and ends on the 8th (Sunday).
Anyone planning to attend?
My friend and I are thinkng about going and definitely will be if the 09 Cayman is there. If I am to go, it'll be on Friday or the weekend.
If there's enough interest and conjoining schedules, perhaps we could grab a bite, talk cars, and plan on future events for the upsoming season.
Cheers

Why is that? Usually you guys are out there with a pretty good show. Is it because of the economy?

Yeah I am in town and was thinking about going tonight until I found out no new Cayman at the show, and no Porsche presence, so I can wait and hit another show. You are still free to take me out to dinner though...

Hey look, another mid-engine race car with the Porsche name on it, how many does that make now vs. rear engine models?

Re: Washington DC Auto Show February 4th-8th 2009
Here are some pics. Little funny story. The area where the Carrera GT was located, they were repositioning cars while people were walking around. An elderly gentleman decided to open the door on the gt and hop in. He was having difficulty getting out and was putting his fingers all over the car, grabbing at whatever he could in order to get out. Quite comical. Needless to say, one of the guys working there finally saw this and gave him a stern warning about not being allowed to sit in these cars. The elderly gentleman didn't seem like he cared and walked off to look at another exotic.
Enjoy the pics!

Re: Washington DC Auto Show February 4th-8th 2009
I did wind up going. I never did see that IMA Porsche.
It was a very different show this year. Normally, there is a line around the block to get in then you have to wait to pay then you wait to get in to the actual show rooms. This time I walked right off the metro and right into the building, then I was the single and only person in the entire ticket sales room then basically walked right into the show rooms. There were limited prototypes, no Jeep Experience thing, not really any of the exotic's (yes there were Porshes and Ferrari's but they were not there from the manufacturers/new car dealers). Audi was probably the nicest car there (oh Rolls was there too).
%mazing.

I do have one question. A lot of the nicer cars had small black buttons on their door handles, what were they for? You could open the car door without touching the buttons.
On a side note, I had to get a second car for the winter because I kept hearing how bad our winter was going to be (so far it hasn't even been an issue). Anyway, I've been driving another car the last three weeks. I took out the CS this weekend and I have to say you just get spoiled when you drive that car everyday. You just don't even know how good it feels. When I went from my well-used, normal car back to the CS - I just couldnt believe how good it felt! IT was amazing.

What kind of car is your daily driver? I'm using a 2001 jetta it's not bad. Fully loaded leather, heated seats, etc. Bought it back in 01 with the Audi. I agree if your not drivivg the Porsche everyday you miss it alot more.

Re: Washington DC Auto Show February 4th-8th 2009
I got a fully loaded 02 Saab 93. It recently got a new engine so hopefully it will hold up... I know it's the model I got but I was hoping it would be a little more sporty but I'm liking.
