This is a reminder to all Autocross enthusiasts that PCA Potomac Region's first Autocross Event of the 2009 Season will be on Sunday, April 26th, at the Bowie Baysox facility.
Autocrossing is a great way to learn about car control and handling at moderate speeds in a safe & controlled environment. There are no pre-requisites to attend our events. Newcomers are welcome to solicit help from our veteran autocrossers. Whereas the attention won't be as much as we offer at our annual Autocross School (took place on April 5th), we can still provide pointers and even arrange for someone to ride in your passenger seat during your early runs. Also with Autocross, Tech Inspection is only done onsite during the morning of each event. We conduct a visual safety inspection of all cars, looking for issues such as leaking fluids & corded tires, insuring that throttle & brakes are operating, and making sure no loose items exist which could be a hazard to the car or driver. Whereas we don't require a "on the lift" Tech Inspection as required for our DE (Track) events, we do encourange a ll members to take advantage of those tech sessions to learn more about their car as well as meeting other members and car enthusiasts!

Note that our events this year will be $40 at the door, or $35 if you register & pay in advance online. Discounted Registration will be available until 2 days before the event date. So register early and save!
The schedule for the day will be as follows:
7:00 AM: Site opens
7:15-9:00 AM: Registration
7:30-9:00 AM: Tech Inspection
8:15-9:00 AM: Course Open for Walkthrough
9:00 AM: Registration & Tech Closed
9:00-9:15 AM: Mandatory Drivers Meeting
9:30 AM: First car off
We are introducing one classing change this year. There will now be 2 separate GUEST classes; GUEST will be for non-Porsches on regular street tires. GUEST-R will be for non-Porsches that are using R-compound tires (Treadwear Rating of less than 140).
