Mid-Atlantic Rock-n-Croc 4 caravan?
There are at least a few folks in the mid-atlantic (MD, DC, VA, PA, etc) area going on Rock-n-Croc 4. Is anyone interested in meeting up and caravanning down together on June 4th? If so, sign up here and we'll work out the details of meeting place(s) and time(s).
Thanks!

It's a Cayman-only road trip through some of the best driver's roads in the US. You can read about it here. You can also do a search and read about all the past trips.

Re: Mid-Atlantic Rock-n-Croc 4 caravan?
What time is every/anyone thinking? I think I'm just going to work in Reston that day so I'll be < 5 minutes from I-66 (which I assumed we'd use to leave town?) and can meet up there at any time. Does that work with any exsisting plans?

It's about an 7-hr drive down there, from my house. I was actually thinking about leaving fairly early Thursday morning (4 June), like maybe around 9am or so, or at least, after the worst of the morning rush hour is over.
Meeting you on/near I-66 sounds like it would work. Can you recommend a good place to meet?
As for everyone who is north and/or east of DC, would meeting at my house, before heading to Virginia, work for you guys? So far, I think that's just Dominic, Jackie and Steve.

Re: Mid-Atlantic Rock-n-Croc 4 caravan?
Oh, good thing I asked. I was planning on working, driving down, and getting there just in time to sleep! I'll have to see if I can get another day off. Is something happening that night?
There is a gas station just off 66 and fairfax county parkway. I could even just waint on the shoulder on 66 too with enough coordination.
I double checked google maps and it looks like there is a 4 minute difference for me between using I-66 and 81 vice I-95. I thought that was interesting.

Re: Mid-Atlantic Rock-n-Croc 4 caravan?
As far as I know, there's nothing special going on Thursday night. It's just a chance to relax and hang out before things "really" start the next morning. Given the intensity of some of the roads and some of the participants ( ), you'll want to be well-rested before we start.
Also, the early start gives us time to deal with any unexpected delays or occurrences.

Re: Mid-Atlantic Rock-n-Croc 4 caravan?
Hello, I just got my Cayman last thursday and missed the deadline for this event. I would really like to attend this event, I just saw the you tube video on this and it looks very very fun.
I would like to get a ride with and ccomplished driver in a Cayman S Model, to see what the possibilities are with this car before I break in this car. Now I have 550 miles.....
Will help out the driver by $200+ for taking me me! Please pm me or reply to this thread!
Can we have a mini drive like this???

Re: Mid-Atlantic Rock-n-Croc 4 caravan?
I dont think you'll have any luck with this. Im not sure why but registration for this event is completely locked out - I can't even take my own dad who now thinks I'm trying to blow him off.

Re: Mid-Atlantic Rock-n-Croc 4 caravan?
It looks like even if I register to drive my own car I cannot find lodging for this event.
TME110 I was told to talk to the organizer to get the post deadline registeration.
I also love the fact that your car has LSD!
This event looks awsome....... Definately you guys will see me next year for this event~

LSD - Limited Slip Differential
|
 |
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all. In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely– the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices. For more demanding use however, such as driving off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.

Casey,
We all made it back in one piece. It was a blast. You definitely need to come out next year. Maybe by then I will have the turbo installed!
