Hail today

So today I went to go look at some vacation homes near Catoctin mountain MD witih my mother. I didn't check for weather since it was really clear this morning. After looking at couple of houses I can see the storm coming quickly towards me and it looked mean as hell. So I decided to pull into Sheets parking lot where there was a cover. As soon as I was pulling into the covered section I see lil tiny bits of hail hitting my windshield. I freaked out and pulled my car between two trucks. Within seconds I see hail coming down pretty hard quarter & dime size hail. I was still pretty scared because my car was totally not covered. Parking between two big trucks definately gave me alots of cover. After about 5 mins of waiting hail stopped and 15 mins later the rain died down. Definately was a scary moment for me since I had my car for less than a month with 1200 miles. I inspected my car carefully and no damage at all. I was pretty lucky to find a cover so quickly many cars that came to the gas station too late was not able to find a cover and got bunch of lil dents on there hood and was really pist~~

Re: Hail today

ouch. I thought I heard hail today but wasn't sure. Small planes in the area regurlarly get severely damaged by hail and I've always wondered why you never heard about it with cars.

Re: Hail today

I went through something similar with my previous Porsche an 05 Boxster. Its was about dime size hail on the xway. The sound of hail hitting metal the rag top and the window. Would make all of Porsche owners cry. Luckily no damage at all. God must like Porsche's. In April 1992 we had a really bad hail storm it caused 85 million in damages.

Re: Hail today

Yup, up here when the sky turns you never know so I try to watch the weather all the time just for that reason. Was golfing last week, 70 degrees no clouds, finished, showered , sauna, came out, was black and the wind picked up, drove like a maniac to get home, mostly back country roads, 5 mins after it was parked inside, the north end of the city saw hail, my worst nightmare!!!!! I get hammered all the time by my buddies about not driving out in bad weather but it aint no garage queen either, got 9998 klms on it in less than 12 months ownership and 4 months parked in the winter...

Re: Hail today

It doesnt hail that much around here. DC METRO I guess I just picked a bad day to take the car out.

I have 535i which was left outside of the garage but decided to park it in the garage since its black and it was hot. I was not lazy this time and saved me from getting hailed at which was nice.

And 535i is not that good in the snow (I did not get snow tires either) But i could not even make up this lil hill after a decent storm.

I am going to drive my cayman in the snow. Gonna get some 16 inch wheels and winter tires. I love that picture of Cobalt Blue cayman driving in the snow in the cayman brochers. That is gonna be me!

Since I got my car i have been super careful to avoid trucks with loads, road debris, rocks, by generally going pretty slow, gotta keep our cars clean. I hate seeing dirty *** porsches. I saw a real clean exige and vanquis today on my way to mountain biking in fountain head and made me really happy, eventho I was in my friends muddy montero

Re: Hail today

I got nailed last wednesday with grape sized hail. I was stuck in traffic so there was nowhere to go for cover. I was screaming inside the car 'Nooooooo!'. I'll find out if paintless dent removal works, since I have a couple...

Re: Hail today

My CS was out in the open when the hail hit. Luckily it was covered and no damage was seen. They're calling for the same thing today in the Baltimore Metro area so I brought my car to work where it's in a garage.

The hail was the size of grapes, just northeast of Baltimore and there was a report of a confirmed EF0 tornado in eastern Baltimore County.
