Are we gonna skip Summer?

Pretty much dead here. Is anything happening in DC/VA/MD?

Let the Nor'Easters know also if you're planning something Casey. I think a few of us can use a long one day road trip...

Re: Are we gonna skip Summer?

That actually sounds like a good idea. I've been wanting to see transformers anyway. Imax is a plus. I still haven't been to the new Imax theater in Dulles

Re: Are we gonna skip Summer?

A meet and drive would be fun. I'd be careful about combining it too much with a movie as tastes in movies vary wildly.

Personally for example, I'd sooner be forced to watch 3 hours of NASCAR with nothing to drink but Miller Lite than pay to see Transformers.

Re: Are we gonna skip Summer?

Things always try to get planned but nothing real happens. There are usually good get togethers at each of the autocrosses. BillC, FT, tme110, Golfguy, Scov (I forget), JCRiggs, etc usually show. They happen about once a month.

There is also a PCA dine and drive twice a month which usually have a completely different set of Cayman owners who somehow have managed to not even know about this site (I have of course tried to fix that). This Sat they are meeting for Breakfast in Tysons Corner and then driving to Harpers Ferry along some scenic routes in Va.

I know Dom has asked if anyone was going to Crocktoberfest. Too long a drive for me but if anyone else is interested...caravans are always fun.

Plus all the other random things that have been brought up on here like the Hershey Swap meet, Porsches and Biplanes, Porsches and Yatchs, etc...

Re: Are we gonna skip Summer?

I usually go to the PCA breakfasts (1st Sat at Chutzpah in Tysons, 3rd Saturday at Irish Inn in Glen Echo. The PCA Potomac folks do have a few Caymans, plus plenty of 997's and older 911's, and plenty of Boxsters. At least 1 to 2 other Caymans show up besides mine. The PCA folks have a full line-up of events (they actually did a tour of the Udvar-Hazy in May), often multiple events in one weekend. It does seem to be a different group than hang out here on Planet Porsche, though, based on the one occasion when K-Man S was in town that I met some of the other local folks here.

There was a PCA "Porsches and Yachts" event a few weeks ago at National Harbor, and there were at least 4 Caymans there - white, cobalt blue, lapis blue, ruby red (mine), out of 60 vehicles total. The white one was familiar to me but the other two were ones I hadn't seen at events before. I suspect they may have come from another PCA section like Chesapeake.

Re: Are we gonna skip Summer?

rockin' the Mid Atlantic, just came back from Lake Placid. Why do we have to drive for 8 hours everytime to have some fun?

Re: Are we gonna skip Summer?

because driving around DC is a nightmare?

Well, Saturday's dine and drive was a good time. At least 6 Caymans showed up and I have no idea how many p-cars there were but there had to be about 30. I thought I'd be the only person there because of the holiday. Got to introduce several more people to the club.

Re: Are we gonna skip Summer?

I will have to watch this forum section better.

I am both new to the area and to being a cayman owner and would enjoy meeting others in the area.
