Question Where to go in NE Ohio?

I'm driving to Cleveland and Canton over Labor Day weekend from DC to check out the Springsteen exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and then visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I grew up in Cleveland late 60s-mid 70s (from ages 7 to 15) and remember some of the crazy roads around Gates Mills and Hunting Valley as well as the odd covered bridges here and there. Definitely a place to get into cars at an early age.

I am looking for some recommendations on good Porsche Cayman driving roads before I get to the hotel on Friday night (staying downtown Cleveland at the Hyatt atop the Arcade, then heading to Canton on Sunday).

Thanks!!

Re: Good routes in eastern/northeastern Ohio?

Hmmm, no Caymanites in Cleveland? Looks like I'll have to break out Google Earth instead to plan my routes......

I'm with ya - I'd be real interested to hear of any good routes out your way. I planning a trip east and it'd be nice to row thru the gears a bit for fun on the drive. If you find any, let us know.

Re: Good routes in eastern/northeastern Ohio?

This thread seems to be dead so I will chime in. I am always on Lake Rd in Avon Lake Ohio and Bay Village Ohio, it is a great road that I will see some Porsches on from time to time. Also the Ohio Turnpike is very scenic and has a speed limit of 70 MPH so for those that just like crusing that could also be an option.

Any other recomendations?

On the east side of town I would recommend Geauga County for a scenic drive in the country. Routes 608, 322, 86, and several others in the area are nice.

Re: Good routes in eastern/northeastern Ohio?

This is an old topic that I happened to come across. Due to the latest glacier having moved thru NE Ohio 10k years ago , there are little in the way of hills and windy roads.

However, I was in SE Ohio today traveling SR9 north from St. Clairsville, the county seat of Belmont County. The road is twisty, hilly, and perfect for P-cars. South of that town is also supposed to be good. There was no traffic and only one State Trooper. And if you like to fish, you will pass Tappen Lake, which is HUGE and is filled with large bass.

Also, nearby is SR7 that passes thru Steubenville. Going south from that town towards WV is supposed to be just as nice a drive.
