Quaife installer
I have decided that I want to get a Quaife ATB installed in my '08 2.7L Cayman, and I'd appreciate it if Nor'easters (especially those who have had an ATB installed) could recommend or warn against a place relatively close to the Boston area where I can get the work done. I am also interested in hearing about how folks who have a Quaife like it, whether they are just regular drivers and/or if they do AX's or DE's.
Thanks in advance,
Tom T

Re: Quaife installer
I think bwass24 's car is at Fairfield County Motorsport right now having one installed. You may want to contact him.
I don't know the guys in Boston, but there's plenty of talent here in CT.

epe in Natick may be one of the best in MA. I'm sure they can do the install.

Re: Quaife installer
EPE could do a good job, from what I heard in other forums.
Matt at Porsche of Nashua could do that too (Mike is the service writer there, also cool dude). I spoke with Matt about install of LSD or TBD last weekend. He is a perfectionist, so I am kind of partial to him, having experienced his work on maintenance and inspection stuff with my CS.

LSD - Limited Slip Differential
|
 |
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all. In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely– the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices. For more demanding use however, such as driving off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.

Re: Quaife installer
Thanks very much to everyone for their follow-up on my question. Since I'm in Ashland, epe is virtually next door. I'm still in saving mode, not ready yet to jump into spending mode, but I figured I could start talking about the project if the right shop could be found.
Thanks again,
Tom T
