Sounds like fun. I say pencil it in. It looks like one of the only empty weekends in the next few months for the NE.

Technically, April is still spring. But I'm glad I wrote down "summer" by mistake! I've still got some time to work that out...

Nothing wrong with a stable full of prancing horses....
I might try to get to this. Not too far for me. New London-Orient Point Ferry.
(Depends on if other plans have already been made for me)

Re: Run out East "ROE" event in Long Island, 5/9

After doing some more reading about this event, I'll probably will make the 2 hour trip to attend. I've never been to the North Fork of Long Island past Huntington and there'll be some amazing cars present.

If enough of us show up, maybe we can do a late lunch before heading back. I'm not looking forward to the traffic, but whaddya going to do?

Re: Run out East "ROE" event in Long Island, 5/9

How about a meet up on the Island to form a caravan to drive out east. Champion Motorsport possibly? Or there is the Ferrari/Maserati Dealer a little further east.

Good idea.

Why don't plan on the Chris Morley Golf Course where we met for the Americana Manhasset concours last fall? It's right next to 495. We'll figure out the times as we get closer to the event and have a more definite headcount.

BUMP

I wanted to get this back on everyone's radar since May is just around the corner now. I've contacted the organizers to make sure non-Ferrari spectators would be welcomed.

I've never been on the North Shore this far out and I look forward to a nice relaxing road trip with some friends from here.

On a side note, the Metro-PCA region will also be holding a Vintage Rally that will end at this same vineyard on July 11.

Re: Run out East "ROE" event in Long Island, 5/9

Let me know the route you are taking and I will find a convenient location for us to meet close to where I live. Part of it depends on what time and how fast you want to get there. We can drive along the north shore which is a little slower, but more scenic. Caution, there are multiple police jurisdictions in that area. Between the local village police, there are Riverhead town police, Southold town police, and NYS police.

Pete... the north fork is really beautiful, completely different from the rest of L.I.. mostly farmland and never far from a beach, it's a really nice drive once you get off the end of the L.I.E., nothing too twisty just very scenic.nice enjoyable ride. a must is to stop at one of the many local farmstands and pick up a great homemade pie before leaving.

Re: Run out East "ROE" event in Long Island, 5/9

OK, we're a week and a half away, never too early to start planning our caravan. I need the help of the Long Island locals for this since I'm not familiar with the North shore.

Here is what I'm thinking of.

Initial meeting point at Ferrari of Long Island. Their showroom is right off the LIE and there should be some nice things to look at while we're waiting.

A second meet point further west for the mid-Island residents.

Do we stay on 495 to get there on time or should we jump off to some of the local roads?

Let's get a list of who is thinking of coming so that we can plan the route more effectively.

1. PistolPete
2. delman1012
3. jxreef
4. gonzo
5. V_man
6. mysticcs (via ferry)
7.
8.
9.

Re: Run out East "ROE" event in Long Island, 5/9

It is probably worth staying on 495 all the way to Riverhead. The roads from there to the vineyards are small after that. I am not familiar with this area either, so hopefully others will have more detailed suggestions.

Everything else sounds pretty good.

I will try a test run this weekend with some sample routes and report back to the crew.

Re: Run out East "ROE" event in Long Island, 5/9

Pete... Champion Motors might be a little easier to meet at,since it is easier to get off and back on the LIE there. the exit for Ferrari is a little trickier if one is not familiar with the road there and their park lot is not too big, but on the other hand like you said it is a very cool place to check out, interesting showroom and maybe some of the ferrari group heading east will be meeting there
