Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
I guess it is time to round up the usual suspects and plan a road trip to Croctoberfest 2009. Anyone else in our region is welcome to join us. Should be at least as much fun this year.

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Right now, it's looking good for me to make this trip. Whomever decides to go might consider some of the suggestions made by Courtney in a previous thread:

Croc'ed is on board?
It pains me to say it, but I won't be able to make this due to time constraints this year...

Sorry to hear that Pete. I guess we will have to carry on without you. Does that mean I am now responsible for all the photography?

Yes you are! Haven't done anything about Crocktoberfest yet, too busy with doctors. I'll start to look at the info next week.

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Do people always stay for the entire event, or can you just stay a night or two? I think 5 days might be a bit long to miss work, particularly in September.

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Well, it's wrapped around the 3-day Labor Day weekend this year. You 've gotta figure it'll take two full days of driving to get out there from where we are. We did something similar heading to Atlanta last year for CroctoberFest.
I'm in the same boat this year with a new job. I just won't have the days to do it unfortunately...

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Pete you should come down for Thurs and Fri that would only mean 3 days off work (Weds and Thurs to drive) hit the party Thursday night, do all the stuff Friday, head back on Saturdy and you are home Sunday with a day to spare...

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
And if you feel like splurging, do the Saturday activities and head home Sunday/Monday and you are still back in time for work on Tues...
I need 40 people for the party Thursday night!

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Mapquest says it's 900 miles (15 hours) from my place. I think it can be done in 13.
I might be able to swing the abbreviated run out there.

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Upon further consideration, may be able to participate in Caravan. Without having to read everything in threads, is there a summary somewhere for those of us coming into this late?

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Hey Bigguy,
The event info is here:
http://www.planetporsche.net/news-it...formation.html
Now the central point for the NorthEast caravan info will be here. Since this will be a 2-day driving trip, we should figure out the first night stopover point soon and locate a hotel around the area.
We'll keep the specifics via PM for security. This worked out well last year.

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Pete-
You said two-days driving. Did you mean two-full days, as in leave on Sep. 1? Or would you leave on Sep. 2 and then get up ealy on Sep. 3 (first day of event) to finish up the drive?

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Leave from the NY area early on 9/2, spend the night somewhere midway, then an early start on 9/3 and make it there for the Thursday evening kickoff party,,,

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
I guess I should start looking for a convenient midway point for the crew. I'll report back to the group later this week.

Re: Croctoberfest 2009 Caravan
Some where between Cleveland and Toledo is 500+ miles. If we want to make the next day an easy one, I think we'll have to put in between these two cities.
