3M clearbra install

Want to get the 3M clearbra installed on my new Cayman S Sport. I saw what can happen without it on my two previous Caymans. Is Detailing Dynamics the best place to go and do they offer a club discount? Anyone else need this done (Charles, I know you do).

Re: 3M clearbra install

There is another person that does the installs for Princeton Porsche who has a good rep. I don't have his card with me with now unfortunately, but I'll PM you later with it.

Re: 3M clearbra install

racerboy,
I have a clear bra on my CS. My car has the 40 or 50% clear cover on the front hood. I suggest that you go with a 100% cover on the hood. Why you ask? Because I have two small chips on the hood. One is about an inch above the clear bra and the other about 10 inches above the bra. This has me wishing I had done the full hood. Just my 2 cents.

+1 for Detailing Dynamics. They did my Cayman and their work is top notch. I drove from Albany, NY to L.I. to have them do the work.

Another +1 for Detailing Dynamics. I live in Long Island, but that doesn't change the fact that their work is excellent and they're a bunch of good guys too.

Re: 3M clearbra install

Two questions about DD:

1. How much lead time do they need? Since that's a bit of a ride, I'm hoping that I can at least hang around the shop while they do it. I don't want to have to drop the car off and then go pick it up.

2. What was the average cost? I would probably due the entire hood.

Thanks

Re: 3M clearbra install

They will probably need time to clean the car before the install. If you're doing a complete install, they might want it the day before. As for pricing, if you ask, they will send you a diagram with prices for the various parts.

Re: 3M clearbra install

You'll need to call them. Their work load varies a lot, so I couldn't guess how long they'd take.

I dropped off my car at DD today for detailing work. I always love visiting them as they have really cool cars in the garage. They were working on a clearbra for a white McLaren F1 while I was there. They also showed me this awesome new heat-rejecting window tint, which is effectively SPF 1000 or something and is endorsed by some cancer association for preventing sun-based skin cancer.

If you call them to get prices, make sure you let them know that you got their name from Cayman Club aka Planet Porsche. They were surprised when I told them their banner is on Planet Porsche until I explained that it used to be Cayman Club.

Hello!
I had my 3M Clear Bra installed by the vendor who does the work for Rector Porsche in Burlingame, CA. I noticed several "bubbles" in it on 2 of the leading edges. They tell me that they will "settle" or evaporate in about 3 weeks. Has anyone had this problem. The bubbles are slowly going away but I am not sure the bra was installed correctly. Any advise you can give me?
Thank you!

I saw your car while I was picking up my BMW. It looks good!

Detailing dynamics is a first class act.

Re: 3M clearbra install

Mine is a Metero Grey car and it does not show on the paint. Just on where it ends on the front fenders etc.
