CS sighting in Vancouver...

Post here Caymans you see (or own) in Vancouver, a beautiful city!

Traveling for business this week in Vancouver, BC. Saw a black or midnight blue (sorry it was at night) Cayman S with Carerra Classic wheels parked across the street from my hotel (Sheraton Downtown Vancouver). I love those wheels! Whose car is this?

Cayman sightings in Vancouver is rare. In the past year, no more than 6 - 8, & likely some of them could be the same car? Please identify yourself by posting here if you are a Cayman owner. Post some pics too.
Thanks in advance

I envy you (Ploc) living in Vancouver. I spent three weeks on business there a few years ago and it was amazing. I think its my third favorite city in the world.

Thanks, smounic. Vancouver is pretty nice, but rain a bit too much! If you ever come out this way, PM me in advance for a get together. Now, i have to ask, if Vancouver is your 3rd favorite city, what's the first two?
For me, my favorite is NY City, Paris, France & Los Angeles. (Tokyo & Hong Kong follows)

Ploc36, thanks! I'll make sure to do that next time I'm in town. Won't be much of a Cayman meeting though 'cause I won't have my CS with me.

I agree with smounic that Vancouver is a very nice city. Too bad it rained so much this week. I was hoping to drive (in my rental) to Whistler for fun but the weather just wouldn't cooperate.

I grew up in New Orleans, so I'm pretty used to regular showers. I found it very similar, albiet cooler than New Orleans.

My favorite cities in order are:

1) Hong Kong
2) San Francisco
3) Vancouver, BC

Hong Kong reminds me of San Francisco, with a good bit of New York mixed in. It is a breathtaking place, with such variety. San Francisco is a great town, but the earthquakes and the cost keep me away. Memphis is an awfully cheap place to live in comparison. Finally, if Vancouver was in the US, I would move there tomorrow without thinking twice. I didn't find the cost as high as SFO and it was very beautiful.

I plan to take a trip back to Vancouver for vacation and I'll be able to show my wife why I liked it so much. I'll let you know when we make it out there.

In the year since I've been looking I probably spotted about 5 or 6 Caymans (well not counting the Cayman meet =)).

From the boutique dealer I imported mine through I was there when another guy bought a black CS they were selling a couple of months ago. I also spotted a silver 2.7 parked behind Taylor's Crossing restaurant in north van a few months back.

I think with our high dollar a lot more Caymans are coming into the area now, certainly see a fair number listed for sale locally. It's too bad as I kind of liked the fact that they weren't that common around here =).

Probably someone from Bellingham (Roger Jobs Motors) that drifted over the line.

Likely. But since Porsche introduced the Cayman in 07, I have seen more around town. It's not as rare anymore but haven't seen more club members from this area??

Just an idea...All Cayman owners will visit their dealership for parts, accessories, maintenance, etc. Maybe the dealerships in Vancouver would allow a poster to be posted that advertises the benefits of joining the Cayman Club. I could do the same at Roger Jobs Motors in Bellingham (we have a condo at Semiahmoo) and at Barrier Motors in Bellevue (near our home in Sammamish).

Sure I'd attend if I'm free. We can compare our eerily similar CSs =).

Hi Everyone...

Hopefully see you guys at the meet. I have been invisible last few months due to new baby in November. I should have more time from now on.

Is anyone still driving their Cayman? I am still driving when it is not snowing. I saw a red one today on HWY91

It is too bad a lot of people getting a Porsche do not get involve with local PCA or Cayman club.. That's where 95% of fun

Lawrence

I m taking my CS into MCL this coming Monday, will keep you posted.
(On a side note, went down to Portland over Christmas & visited Sunset Porsche at Beaverton, seems like a nice dealership, set-up very similar to Barrier Motors)

LOL, I don't really see a place like MCL encouraging people to join Cayman Club. I learned a great deal from Cayman Club in regards to how much you can pay for a new or used Cayman in various markets. I think when a dealer has a monopoly on the local market they would probably rather keep you in the fog and keep exclusive control over information in regards to purchasing a Porsche. On the other hand apart from the purchasing knowledge Cayman Club provides a lot of useful information they might be happy to see their customers share in. Anyway, I would be curious to see their reaction, and hope they would be open about it - I guess it isn't much different than many other Porsche clubs which they may encourage membership in.

I tend to agree with you, that MCL is a snoot!

Congratulations on the new baby, Lawrence!

Yes, I've been using my Cayman in the winter weather... I bought a set of Pilot Alpin snow tires and some replica Cayman S rims... so the car's not too bad in the snow. I'm pretty careful though, and only take it out in snow when the roads aren't too busy.

I was hoping to do a bit of a road trip over the Christmas break, but I took my car to MCL for them to fix a rattle... and it's been in the shop since Dec 24th. The service tech and I both thought it was the rear quarter window on the drivers side moving in its frame when the body torqued, but apparently it's not that... and it's not the seatbelt mechanism or the trim panels or anything to do with the hatch... it's something deeper down and they're having trouble isolating it. I've been assured that they'll find and fix the problem before giving it back to me.

Anyways... hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and I'll look forward to our next Cayman gathering. There's also a PCA-CWR new year's dinner scheduled for Jan 18th... so hopefully there will be good Cayman representation there.

Cheers
