To My Fellow Calgarians...
In past few days I have seen 2 gorgeous Caymans in Calgary.
The first was a yellow one. We actually had a chance to exchange a few words about how great our cars were while at the lights on 69th Street and Highway 8.
Today a fantastic black one gave me a nice wave on 14th Street and we both turned off to go up 17th Avenue. I was hoping to be stopped at a light together so we could chat but alas he turned off.
If either of the owners of these cars want to say hi and talk endlessly about their cars I am always interested in meeting up. That goes for any other Calgarian Caymanites here!

Haven't seen any here in Edmonton since last fall.
I was all set to get mine out today - dry roads. Then big wet heavy snow/rain started - converting the roadspray to mud. Since I don't feel like washing the car until it really warms up, I'll wait 'til this slushy stuff dries up next week. Ran my errands in my dirty silver X3.
And for most of the weekend I'll be parked in the La-Z-Boy for ALMS and Australian F1!

I couldn't take it any longer, after 5 months in hibernation I had to go for a short drive last weekend, still lots of **** on the road but it was still nice to get out.
In Edmonton tonight it is snowing and freezing rain so this weekend is out. Spring is around the corner, I just need to be a little more patience.

Hi Vanessa,
That was me (Ken), I live near the old Children's Hospital. I love your car in silver, I wish I got that one. Mine was one of the first launch cars; Canadian car.
Edit: I just read your profile. 20% off!!! Very well done! Southcentre is notorious for discounting very little. I bought my car in Vancouver after SouthCentre offered about $4K off a demo car.

Hi Ken,
So nice to hear from you.
I love your black car. I would have purchased a black one if they didn't have silver.
I noticed that you took the Cayman logo off the back, did you take the front one off as well? I am curious why people do that. It certainly makes people more curious about what type of car it is when the logos are taken off.
Do you attend the Porsche club events in Calgary? I haven't been to any yet since I have been so busy but this summer I plan to come to a few.
Yes, I got a good deal with SouthCentre Porsche. I think it was because I kept threatening to buy one from the US and car dealerships were in a bit of a panic about what to do back in October when I bought mine.
Hey Kor! I can't believe you still haven't taken your baby out yet!!! The roads have been great!! You are missing some really fun times! Get out there!
Look forward to meeting you guys! Maybe this summer we should have a Cayman bar-b-que somewhere.
Vanessa

Only one time when I was really tempted to take the Cayman out - Went to a wedding up in Banff and it was on that really hot weekend we had a while ago. The highway was amazingly good.
Calgary roads have so much gravel, my winter car has taken a beating, broken windshield from big rocks being thrown up on Deerfoot, and I've got a dent in the hood and a few scratches this winter... I just tell myself... if those things had happened to my Cayman I'd be much more unhappy!
Got some goodies coming for the Cayman this month and I think that by mid
April I'll be going on some long drives. I'm thinking about going on the Leavenworth cruise this year, which goes from Calgary to Vancouver then down to Washington with dozens of cars

Kor, you have some serious will power!!
You would be a good secret agent. The enemy would never get secrets out of you! You have an iron will. I would have caved ages ago.
That cruise sounds like a blast!
Hope to see you on the roads soon!

I can't stand it anymore, leaving the car in the garage in the winter is painful!
I guess I need to clean it up before it hits the road anyway, and probably have South Center Fine Cars do a Spring Service on it for me.

Minneapolis winters are long enough as it is. Having a Cayman in the garage makes the winter interminable.
My sister lives in Calgary. They got a foot of snow in the last 24 hours. Here in Minne - we are expecting 6-10" over the next day or two.
My first DE is in 20 days. I'm wondering whether I will need to find a way to attach a snow plow to the nose of the CS.
Sigh.

Hi Caygurl. Sorry for not responding sooner. I tend to just hang out and read rather then chat too much! Mine is a local car too, purchased in October from a fellow in Elbow Valley. I was going to park it for the winter but I have no self restraint so....winter rims and tires from Tunerworks and I have been driving it most every nice day!
Would love to hang out with other Calgary Cayman drivers and chat. Joined the PCA and will be doing autoX at racecity this summer.

I hear Race City is being closed?
Also I spotted a black CS in McKenzie Towne yesterday night, seen it a few times. Needs a wash though!

Race City is supposed to close in October, 2009. I hear talk about "someone"
building a new track so we will have to wait and see. I will be very sad if there isn't a place to wring the Cayman out!
Then again, with the forecast for this weekend we may never see spring!

Hi Doc!
Nice to meet you. Are you the guy in the yellow CS that I met at the lights at 69th and Highway 8?
Speaking of Elbow Valley - I am building a new house there. Hope to move in by the end of August if the builders would just get their rears in gear.
I haven't been to any of the Porsche Club events yet but plan to do more in the summer. I've heard about weekly Show and Shine Meetups around the city. Do you go to any of these? Does the Porsche Club do one of their own?
Hope to see you around soon.
Vanessa

That's me!
I think there are a few other Cayman's in Discovery Ridge as well. There was a red and yellow which were both for sale and I saw a white one last night.
The Porsche club affilitates themselves with some other groups for show & shines but I haven't been to any. Tend to wash it on my driveway!
Good luck with the home building...
