Wine Trail North Georgia

I know it's not Napa Valley but has anyone visited any of the wineries in North Georgia. Any suggestions or recommendations? I enjoy my wine almost as much as my Cayman. Mainly looking for an excuse to cruise some of the most beautiful roads in the country.

A better excuse would be to go to Croctoberfest and partake in the Rally and other fun activities!

There was some discussion last evening at the PCA meeting about setting up a side trip to a winery for the trip back from Rennfest on Labor Day. Check the Peachstate website for updates in the next few days.................

I think the 'shine tour could be a lot more interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards

The wife and I drove to Dahlonega today, about an hour drive north from our house in Roswell. The drive up GA400 was a bore but after Dahlonega it was beautiful. We hit three wineries, Wolf Mountain, Frogtown and Blackstock. All within about 5-10 minutes of downtown Dahlonega. All had nice whites and average reds. It is not Napa but it was a nice afternoon. All have nice porches or patios where you can sit and lookout over the mountains. One bummer is Frogtown and Blackstock had gravel parking lots - dust covered the car. We ate dinner at Smith House in downtown Dahlonega - food is served family style so you end up sitting at a big table other diners, nothing fancy but they served some nice all you can eat southern food - the fried chicken was yummy. It would be good for a group.

We just got the September local glossy mag Points North, which has an article on 2 of the newer GA vineyards, M Vineyards, and Persimmon Creek.

Maybe good for another run. Some more info here that was referenced: georgiawine.com, as well as montaluce.com and persimmoncreekwine.com.

Regards!
