New Graphic for Southern Region
Hi [Ya'll] Southerners,
K-Man S is implementing a new awards system, which will include a customized graphic for regional groups.
See thread: http://www.planetporsche.net/website...-graphics.html
I have volunteered my meager skills to try to come up with something, but I don't want that to dissuade anyone else from having a go at it as well.
I have a few rough, preliminary entries, but I welcome all input, suggestions, or submissions.
The above thread specifies that the graphic will be a 32x32 clear background .GIF file.
Cheers,
Chuck

Thanks, the 3rd one is the one I'm leaning towards, but it needs to be cleaned up, or redone completely...too jagged.
Here is another approach altogether, it looks transparent when I preview it, but solid white background when I attach it as an image:

I like the compass rose. It highlights the fact we get to drive our Porsches all year round!

Re: New Graphic for Southern Region
Well someone let me know what the final one is and I'll get it assigned to the group so it starts showing up.

Let me have a final try at getting the best quality versions I can manage, and I will get one to you.
Still, if there is a real graphics artist out there that wants to upstage me, please feel free! I'd gladly have my ego bruised to get a superior graphic for the group.
Cheers,
Chuck

Re: New Graphic for Southern Region
OK, how about this?
The basic blue : gradientized : cleaned up ized : gif ized : transparentized : rounded off cornerized.
Can't please everyone, can't even please myself most days, I'm sure it is no biggie to swap out graphic for something better at a later date.
Cheers,
Chuck

Re: New Graphic for Southern Region
Chuck,
What about something like the outline of the "Southern" Region states and the letter "S" across it in red. I did this real fast but didn't put it into the right size....
What do you think?? Of course, it might look like **** once it is shrunk down....

Hey Cliff,
Believe it or not, my very first attempt was a map of the southern region, just as you suggest!
I found by the time I got it shrunk down to 32 x 32 pixels it just became an unrecognizable blob. Either it is A) not doable, or B) beyond my abilities (a very real possibility). Here is a quick shrink of your graphic to 32 x 32, and frankly it actually looks a bit better than what I had come up with. I will try to get a better version posted and see how that looks.
Cheers,
Chuck

Re: New Graphic for Southern Region
Chuck,
Hummmmm..... it doesn't look all that bad. The "S" could be a little bigger maybe?
I really don't have a preference and will go with whatever decision is made.
BTW, thanks for all your efforts!

I'm happy to help out, thanks back at ya for participating. I was thinking of ditching the "S" altogether, since the shape itself proclaims "SOUTH". Here is the map only, and switched to a PP logo type blue. An "S" could be added, or something completely different added.
Also attached a re-worked compass rose with a blue "S".

Re: New Graphic for Southern Region
Wow, I think they both look pretty good.
I like the States one even better in Blue and without the "S"...

Re: New Graphic for Southern Region
Nice work! I'm still partial to the compass rose but the states are OK as well.

Re: New Graphic for Southern Region
To me the region map looks too plain. I tried adding a PP logo on top of it...
Can you still tell that it is supposed to be a region map, -OR- am I just seeing it as a map because I know what it is supposed to be?
Numero Dos y Dos A: How about just the region map with a gadient to spice it up a little?
Last one: basically same as first with no gradient.
K-Man S, mods, I apologize for taking so long on this project.

Re: New Graphic for Southern Region
Chuck,
I like the last one with the logo.... I can tell that it is supposed to be a region map. Of course, I might be in the same boat as you because I KNOW that is what it was intended to represent.
I say you make the call and we will live it! You've done all the work, you have the right to make the choice as far as I'm concerned!
Thanks agian!

Thanks for weighing in Cliff. Unfortunately, I don't see how we can reach a complete consensus, so it may just come down to picking one. That doesn't mean it couldn't be changed later on if somebody came up with a graphic that really 'popped' and conveyed "South".
I gotta get going to my real job (meh), so no more graphics work by me today...At least I get to drive the CS to work!
See Ya,
Chuck

Yep... completely agree with you. No way are we going to reach a concensus, so I say we go with one of your choosing. If others weigh in and have cool ideas or designs we can always change as you stated.
Take Care...
