NEW - Meet Drive and Eat to the Stingaree Restaurant, Sunday, July 27th
It's that time of year again. Too hot to DE or AX. Too hot to even wash the car for a concours. What's left? Why an air conditioned drive to one of the Lone Star Region's favorite "rustic" seafood restaurants - Stingaree on the Bolivar Peninsula. We last visited there in the Fall of 2005, so it's well overdue for a repeat.
We will meet at the baseball field parking lot in Memorial Park off E. Memorial Park Loop Drive about 0.2 miles south of the golf course parking lot at 11 am on Sunday, July 27th. Departure will be about 11:30 am for the 1-1/2 to 2 hour drive. Our route will be out I-10, then south at Anahuac by various road across the coastal plain to the beach, then west along the Gulf to the Restaurant. Click here for route details. Our arrival will be about 2 pm, which should allow time for the lunch crowd to clear out. Depending on the crowd at the ferry, the return route can be either by boat across to Galveston and then up on scenic I-45, or one could retrace the morning route. There is no organization of the trip home.
Stingaree is an old time seafood restaurant, the kind that used to populate Kemah 15 years ago. It is located right on the ship channel, with great seafood and great views of the tugs and tows out the window. If you would like more info on our last trip, visit the web at
