My Cayman is celebrating its second birthday next month. Thought I'd go for a spin and check out the car, see if I felt the same way about it now as I did 2 years ago. Headed for Luling,
Texas to pick up a couple of watermelons at the farmer's market. First pic is my pit stop at the country store in Red Rock. Scouting for possible get together locations, drove thru Lockhart and remembered a friend told me they had the best BBQ ribs in the central TX area. So, figured I'd stop there on the way back from Luling. Picked up a couple of black diamond watermelons at the farmer's market in Luling (2nd pic). Then, drove back to Lockhart and stopped at two different BBQ places. Brought the BBQ home so have to report on it later. Either one would be a good rendezvous point for a Sunday afternoon/evening get together/drive (third and 4th pics). Still get that smirky smile every time I get in my Cayman. Except for some curb rash on the wheels and a couple of rock chips where there wasn't clear bra protection, my car looks as new as the day I got it, 27,000 miles later. I feel for those who have had "issues" with their Caymans. Fortunately, I haven't. Except for a check engine light that the dealer reset (and no subsequent lights or issues), I've only had routine service done on my car. Didn't notice any squeaks and rattles. It still drives like its on rails and has plenty of power as far as I'm concerned. To be fair, most of my driving is highway miles, and the car is not a track machine. I've got one annoying rattle on the road to my house but I blame it on the pavement, because as soon as I leave the 4-mile stretch of road, the noise goes away. Hope to see everyone at Boxstoberfest or Croctoberfest, and if not, we'll have to schedule another Zone 5 GTG (gas prices are down to $3.49 in south Austin).
